This disease effects 1 in 3500 male births worldwide. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a disease that worsens very quickly. duchenne muscular dystrophy is caused by a defective gene for dystrophin.
What happens when you have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy?
When you have Duchenne muscular dystrophy, you will not be able to walk or move very much because you have very little muscle mass. you will have to spend the remainder of your life in a wheel chair not being able to move.The muscle cells you have turn into fat when you have this disease making them weak and vulnerable.
How do you get Duchenne muscular dystrophy?
In order to get the disease (Duchenne muscular dystrophy) it is passed down by genetics in your family. Though it happens out of 1 in 3500 male births in the world, it is still rare for someone to get the disease even if it is in your genetics. It normally happens if there is low muscle mass in your family generations.
