Spotlight Book - The Prisoner of Cell 25
The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans
My name is Michael Vey, and the story I’m about to tell you is strange. Very strange. It’s my story.
To everyone at Meridian High School, Michael Vey is an ordinary fourteen-year-old. In fact, the only thing that seems to set him apart is the fact that he has Tourette’s syndrome. But Michael is anything but ordinary. Michael has special powers. Electric powers.
Michael thinks he's unique until he discovers that a cheerleader named Taylor also has special powers. With the help of Michael’s friend, Ostin, the three of them set out to discover how Michael and Taylor ended up this way, but their investigation brings them to the attention of a powerful group who wants to control the electric children – and through them the world. Michael will have to rely on his wits, powers, and friends if he’s to survive.

Today's Titanic Tech Tip - Feedly
Feedly.com is an RSS feeder. RSS = Real Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. Basically, an RSS feeder takes all the things that you like and puts them into one place. This simplifies your daily online reading by taking each individual feed and gathering them together. You can take blogs and news and organize them in such a way that you just go to Feedly.com to read them. Almost anything can go there; with a simple login and "Add Content", you can basically sort and find what you're looking for from sports to politics to comics. You'll also be able to find a number of places you've never heard of before, but which have amazing content.
For example: science teachers! If you go to "Add Content" and search "What if" you'll get an easy way to add the "What If" cartoons "Answering your hypothetical questions with physics, every Tuesday." This site uses cartoons and simple explanations to answer all sorts of questions, some of which are truly gross (like how long would it take to fill a pool with your saliva), or intriguing (like could someone siphon water from Europa to Earth?).
Search what interests you and then have that feed directly to your new Feedly.com RSS.

Lesson Planning
Lesson planning can be annoying and tedious. Wouldn't it be better to share the load? I can sit down and collaborate with you on a number of topics from research, to citations, to cyber safety. I'll even happily take over your classes to teach those, too! Are you struggling to get your students to understand that copy/pasting does not equal having actually written the work? Do you want students to understand how to be online safely and keep their information private? Is there a topic you want them to search, but Google just isn't getting them the information you need them find? Call me! I'll collaborate with you, discuss options, create assignments, and teach for you! Help me help you!
