From the Principal
Phase one of our new dismissal procedures rolled out successfully yesterday. Our new car line procedure is in place. So far, we have phased in a more structured and secure bus dismissal process, this was our first change and was internal, and a more secure car line process. Our next phase will be to look at the current way walkers are released. When changing a large operational item such as dismissal at a large school, we typically have to roll things out in phases for them to be successful. We appreciate your input and patience as we work to make our dismissal process the most safe and secure it can be!
Currently there are many of you using the Southwest parking lot for dismissal. It is getting very congested so we want to remind you of a few safety tips:
1. Students are not allowed to walk in the parking lot without an adult. If you park, please use the crosswalk to pick up your child.
2. Please do not walk in between buses.
3. Please do not block buses. Use a parking space and not the circular area where buses park.
4. Use the car line, it is about a 10 minute process once we dismiss.
We appreciate you helping keep everyone safe and thanks again for a smooth roll out this week!
As always it is an honor to serve as the principal of Sunflower Elementary.
