CVE Polling Site
On Tuesday, March 5, the United States primary elections will be taking place in Minnesota. Some of our school buildings have been designated as polling locations for this civic event, including our school.
As part of our routine procedures, in order to ensure the safety and security of students and staff, the public entering our school premises for voting purposes will be directed through a specific designated entrance. This is to minimize any disruption to our regular school operations and to keep the voting process separate from student and staff areas. We appreciate your understanding.

Elementary Calendar Update
Five no school days added for elementary students to accommodate READ Act staff training
In order to support elementary staff training on the recently passed READ Act legislation, the following five additional no school days will be added for elementary students during the 2024-25 school year:
Monday, October 21, 2024
Monday, December 2, 2024
Friday, December 20, 2024
Friday, February 14, 2025
Monday, April 21, 2025
The READ Act, aims to ensure that every Minnesota child is reading at or above grade level. It is also designed to provide support for multilingual students and those receiving special education services to help them achieve their personalized reading goals. The training mandated by the READ Act is comprehensive, and we want to ensure that our staff is well-prepared.
Thank you for your support as we strive to enhance the reading skills of every child in our school district.

Attendance Area Adjustments Approved for K-8 Schools
On Feb. 27, 2024, the Lakeville Area Schools Board of Education approved K-8 attendance area adjustments model D3 after several months of designing updated school boundaries with stakeholder input. The school boundary adjustments are necessary in order to address capacity issues across K-8 schools and to open the District's newest school, Highview Elementary this fall. Boundary adjustments for grades K-8 will take effect beginning in the 2024-25 school year, while high school boundaries remain unchanged.
To confirm your student’s school assignment for the 2024-25 school year, most families can enter their home address using the ‘Interactive Attendance Area Map Tool’ on the District’s Map & Attendance Boundaries webpage. (Families with students currently receiving special education services or who are currently open enrolled/intra-district transferred received direct communication from the school district on Feb. 28 with more specific details pertaining to their specific enrollment situation.)
If your student will be attending a new school in 2024-25 due to the updated attendance area adjustments, please know our schools will be working collaboratively to support these students and their families through the upcoming transition. No matter the school students are ultimately assigned, the Lakeville Area Schools staff will welcome, care for, and support the needs of each and every student. More details regarding the 2024-25 school year will be provided throughout the spring by the District and its schools.

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA)
Lakeville Area Schools will be participating in the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) this Spring. Students in Grade 3 through Grade 11 will take the Math, Reading and/or Science assessment during the window of March 4 through May 10.
Lakeville Area Schools along with all Minnesota school districts give the MCAs every year to measure the achievement on the Minnesota Academic Standards as well as academic progress of students over time. These assessments meet the state and federal accountability requirements per Minnesota Statute 120B.30 and ESEA. Parents/guardians can review their child’s respective school website calendar for specific assessment dates.
Individual student results will be distributed to families in Fall 2024.
District-wide and school building results can be found on the Minnesota Department of Education website under the Minnesota Report Card.
The MCAs represent one data point within the District’s comprehensive assessment framework.
Daily Desired Experience Student Survey
As part of the district’s ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of its students, a strategic plan was developed in the 2022-23 school year. This plan outlines the ‘desired daily experience’ that we aim to provide within all of our schools based on student, staff and parent/caregiver input.
In order to know if we are improving the daily experiences of students , we will be conducting an annual student survey March 4-15. The survey will be administered to students in Pre K-12, and the feedback gathered will play a critical role in shaping our future planning.
The survey will be conducted at school andis estimated to take approximately 10-30 minutes to complete, depending on the grade level. We encourage all students to participate, but it is voluntary. All responses will be confidential and anonymous. Parents/guardians may opt their students out from participating by completing the form linked here by Friday, March 1.
Thank you for your support and collaboration as we work together to create a positive and enriching school experience for all our students.
Save the Date for Family Fun Night
Our annual Family Fun Night is scheduled for Friday, May 31, from 5-8 pm. Join us for a night of games, food, prizes, raffles, and more! More info will be sent home as the date approaches.
