Lunch Accounts & Payment Options
Lunch Accounts
Fenton Area Public Schools uses the Meal Magic point of sale system in all of our cafeterias. For those of you unaware of this program, Meal Magic is a debit system that provides convenience and accountability to our meal program.
All students are given an “account” which is linked to their student ID number. You may deposit money into the account at any time. Deposits can me made through the food service office at your child’s school by cash or check, or online at www.sendmoneytoschool.com with a credit card or debit card . This allows your student to pay for meals or snacks just by using his/her account. Also, Meal Magic gives you certain controls for monitoring your student’s spending and eating habits. You have the ability to check your student’s balance, account history and meal history through sendmoneytoschool.com. Meal Magic will warn cashiers if your child desires an item that potentially could interfere with your child’s allergies, provided this information has been given to the food service department.
With Meal Magic, all of the student’s accounts will look the same, thus protecting the anonymity of those students who participate in any special meal programs.
The Meal Magic system is a safer, and more convenient way to purchase school lunches. We look forward to serving your student in a much more efficient manner, and as always to meet their needs nutritionally through our student nutrition department.

Charging Policy
It is our policy that students never be denied a meal. However, it is expected the parent/guardian take responsibility to ensure they child's lunch account is up to date. We do send reminder notes, phone calls and emails home about past due balances.
School meals must be paid for at the point-of-sale with cash or check, or preferably online through sendmoneytoschool.com in advance so that they are debited from your account. In the rare event your child needs to charge a lunch, please see the policy below.
Fenton Schools Charging Policy
Fenton High School and AGS Middle School
The student may charge up to $6.50 ( equivalent to 2 reimbursable meals). They may never charge a la carte snack items.
Elementary and Ellen St.
The student may charge up to $5.00 ( equivalent to 2 reimbursable meal). They may never charge a la carte snack items.
If a student has charged a meal, we expect the account to be brought current within 5 days.
During these 5 days, the student may receive a supplemental meal. The protein and grain portion of this meal may vary by building (cheese and crackers or a soy butter sandwich) a piece of fruit and a milk. The account will be charged $1.00 for this meal.
After the 2 charged meals and 5 supplemental meals the student will be sent to the office to call home and explain the situation. The family may work with the principal to form a solution.
Families will be notified of negative balances by phone, email, letter or text. The negative balance charge is expected to be paid within 5 days.
All negative balances must be paid in full by June 30th of each school year. Negative balances will carry over to the next school year.
We encourage families to set up a sendmoneytoschool.com account whether you plan to purchase school meals or not. You can put money on lunch accounts and view purchases, pay for athletics, child care and tuition preschool all through Send Money to School. You can also transfer lunch money between your children, and sign up to receive low balance emails, based on the dollar amount you set to be notified at. Placing a few dollars on the account will help prevent a charge in the situation of a forgotten lunch.
If you are experiencing financial difficulties please call our food service department at 810-591-4709 we will work with you to make sure your child is receiving a meal. Free and reduced lunch applications are available in school offices, kitchens, on our food service website and online at www.lunchapp.com. We encourage you to apply online to streamline the process.
Students may use their Meal Magic account to purchase snacks-either for lunch or classroom snacks. If you do not want your child to be able to purchase snacks , please call the food service office at 810-591-4709 or the kitchen at your child’s school.
No charges on a la carte items! A la carte snack items may be purchased with money in your account or cash. However, if you have cash to purchase a la carte items and owe money on your lunch account the money needs to be applied towards your negative balance instead of buying snacks.
