Dear Families of Second Grade,
This week we continued to learn how to write a research paper. Each student was assigned a Colony and we studied early colonies and what they are known for. We learned how to write an introduction along with 3 big ideas about the colony or state. We also read about life as an early colonist. It was a hard life for the early settlers and it included lots of hard work.
We also had May crowning today! The students did very well. Lastly, we had our annual field trip to the zoo. It was a fun week which included learning on quite a few different platforms-so fun!!!
Reading: We read the myth, “The Night the Moon fell” and talked a great deal about what a “myth” is and how it is different than other genre’s we have studied this year. We did not have a chance to take our reading quiz today but we will take it on Monday morning 😊
Language Arts: Learning to write a Research paper
Math: Fraction review
Social Studies: The early Colonies
Religion: Chapter 20, “Go Forth!”

Mrs. Ammar will be here starting on Monday, May 6th so that she and I can work together to make this transition flow as smoothly as possible.
