CCCMS Transitional State Assessments
From March 10th until May 2nd USD 379 will be giving the Transitional State Assessment in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The 7th grade Science Assessment will be like previous years. 2014-2015 will be when Science debuts a transitional assessment.
This year we have implemented the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards. It has been a transitional year and we are excited about the changes and challenges taking place in our classrooms. We have seen growth in our students and impact on their learning.
In the past, parents have been informed of their child’s scores on an assessment, typically by the end of the school year, including a category that the score falls in (ex-Exemplary, Exceeds Standard, etc.). As mentioned above, this is a transitional year not only for the curriculum and standards but the assessment as well. This year our students will not have an actual score or category they fall in at the end of the school year. We will use the data given to help guide us as we transition and make changes to meet all students needs.
This year we are asking that our students give effort, ask questions, work with the technology, and do their best on the assessment. It truly is a learning and growing year for everyone. We are excited to see our students grow and do their very best.
CCCMS state assessments are scheduled to be held:
6th, 7th, 8th grade Math assessment - April 2, 3
6th, 7th, 8th grade ELA assessment - April 8, 9
7th grade Science assessment - April 15, 16
