Care Solace
We are committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families to create a safe and healthy learning environment. In support of our ongoing commitment, we partnered with Care Solace to provide an additional layer of care for our community.
Care Solace helps individuals find mental health care providers and substance use treatment centers. Their Care Companion™ team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year to quickly connect you to carefully verified providers in your community.
Students, staff, and families may access Care Solace services in two ways:
- Call (888) 515-0595 at any time. Support is available in 200+ languages. A dedicated Care Companion™ will help you every step of the way to research options, secure appointments, and follow up to make sure it is a good fit.
- For an anonymous search, answer a few questions to get matched with an extensive list of care providers at www.caresolace.com/douglas.
Care Solace is now available for use at no cost to you. This service is available to staff, their families, students, and their families. They will connect you with providers accepting all medical insurances including Medicaid, Medicare, and sliding scale options for those without insurance. All information entered on the Care Solace tool is completely confidential and securely stored.
Please note, this service is an optional resource available by choice and is not mandatory to use. Care Solace is not an emergency response service or mental health services provider. In the event of a life threatening emergency, please call 9-1-1 or the National Suicide Hotline 1-800-273-8255.
If you are interested in counseling-related services for your child, yourself, or another family member, please contact Care Solace for valuable assistance. This is a complimentary resource provided by Douglas Public Schools.
Douglas High School Opportunities
After Middle School...
It can be a major decision whether your student is deciding to attend a vocational school or traditional high school after Middle School. For students trying to decide between these two educational paths, the choice often comes down to your skills, interests, and what you want to do after graduating. Please take a look at what the Douglas High School has to offer.
High schools play a crucial role in shaping the academic and personal development of students. They provide a broad academic foundation, a college preparatory focus, and a range of extracurricular activities to enhance students’ overall growth.
Douglas High School offers advanced placement (AP) courses and college-level classes, allowing motivated students to earn college credits while still in high school. Additionally, Douglas High School provides guidance and support in the college application process, helping students navigate through the complexities of college admissions.
BVExcel Registration is Now Open!
Career Options and Workplace Opportunities
Dear Douglas Families,
BVExcel Registration is now open for Douglas students entering grades 9-12 for next year school until classes are filled (first come, first serve). BVExcel was established in recent years by the Blackstone Valley Superintendent's Consortium to offer non-traditional, career related courses to students in the Blackstone Valley. BVExcel exposes students to career options and workplace opportunities while allowing students to build industry skills and earn professional certifications that would be difficult to offer in isolation. Each of these free courses is credit bearing towards high school graduation and the grade earned is reflected on each students’ transcript. BVExcel has been funded through a generous grant from American Student Assistance (ASA). All BVExcel classes are held from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at various high schools in the Blackstone Valley and at the BVHub for Workforce Development in Whitinsville. Other BVExcel Policies can be found on the homepage.
Students can register themselves for next year using the forms on the Registration Page. BVExcel continues to offer courses in the Manufacturing/ Engineering, Healthcare/ Biomedical Science, and Information Technology career pathways and courses vary year to year. We are expanding Health Careers with another class for 2nd semester which will offer CPR and Home Health Aide certifications for students. We are also introducing two electronics/ robotics courses in the new classroom at the BVHub which will also include industry recognized credentials.
