Hylton Bulldog Weekly Update
News You Can Use for the Week of April 29, 2024
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Bulldog Families,
I hope this message finds you well. As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated teachers. Their unwavering commitment to preparing our students for the SOL tests is truly commendable. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
I also want to extend my appreciation to all the parents who ensured that their children attended school for testing. Your support plays a crucial role in our students’ success, and we are grateful for your partnership.
Now, let’s talk about the fabulous prom we had last Friday night! Our students looked absolutely stunning, and the venue was nothing short of magical. Congratulations to our Prom Court: Junior Prince Marc Jacob Danganan, Junior Princess Emily Domingo, Senior King Lakhi Vandiver, and Prom Queen Micaiah Pride. It was a night to remember, and I’m thrilled that our students had such a great time.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting week planned. Here’s what’s coming up:
- Monday: Period 6 SOL testing
- Tuesday: Period 7 SOL testing
- Wednesday: Decision Day
- Thursday: Spring Band Concert
- Friday: Principal’s Honor Roll Luncheon
With only six weeks left in the school year, I encourage our students not to lose momentum. Let’s continue to give our very best until the last day of school. Remember, we are Bulldogs, and that means we are tenacious! 🐾
Have a fantastic Bulldog week and thank you for your continued support!

Edmentum Flex
Edmentum Flex - An Opportunity for Students to Recover Grades
What is it?
Edmentum Flex is a web-based curricula program that is aligned to VDOE standards. It utilizes content and assignments that incorporate real-world examples, interactive text, video, and practice to help students learn content and/or recover credit in many CORE (English, Math, Science, and History) as well as some elective classes. The Edmentum Flex program allows students to recover specific material in place of failing the course and attending summer school or retaking course the following year.
Which students can use the program?
Those students that have not mastered the content of their course (typically seen in low D and F marks) or who are in danger of failing the course for the year have the opportunity to participate in Edmentum as Edmentum is available in most content areas. For those courses (for example, several CTE or elective classes) that do not have a corresponding Edmentum course, teachers can provide an alternate means of content/grade recovery that measures the standards that were assessed through Edmentum.
When can students use this program??
Students can work independently on Edmentum Flex during Flex periods or as agreed to by the teacher. They may also work on Edmentum at home after school, during Bulldog Lab, in class if the instruction permits it, in Study Hall if they have one, during Saturday school, if assigned. However, all assessments in Edmentum should only be done under a teacher's supervision. Remember that students should not have access to their cell phones during testing and should only be on the Edmentum program. If a teacher suspects that cheating was involved in completing an assignment, the teacher can request that the student complete the assignment in alternate format.
Due Dates in Edmentum
Teachers will provide students with specific deadline dates for the assigned Edmentum modules or assignments. Please encourage your students to adhere to the assigned due dates as teachers need the appropriate amount of time to update previous grades with the newly earned Edmentum grades.
The final end date for the Edmentum program:
Seniors - May 24th
Underclassmen - May 30th
