A Note From the Principal:
Dear Bear Tavern Staff,
Get ready for a great four day-weekend. The weather will be warm and you've earned some rest! Be sure to take care of yourself (see Self Care Episode 3 for some great ideas) and recharge a bit.
Remember that regardless of our grade-level, responsibility, job description or role, we each face challenges every day. Some days we drive home feeling great, but others we may have the weight of the world on our shoulders and that challenges just keep coming at us. The most important thing to keep in mind is that every situation passes - even if we make mistakes or something goes wrong, we learn, then we grow. When we stop to think about it - amidst any challenge or frustration that we face, there are dozens of things going very well. When we talk to people from other districts/places it reminds us how fortunate we are in Hopewell Valley and specifically Bear Tavern. We have a lot to be thankful for.
Let's get ready for our school-wide Reading Tournament. It will be awesome!!!
Enjoy your weekend.
Happy Friday!
Sincerely,
Chris
Key Information:
- Road to the Reading Final Four - Today is the day! We'll be deciding on the books that we'll use for the challenge!!! Take a look at the following Google sheet. It has two tabs at the bottom: one is a general timeline of the project, the other is a task list. The task list will be monitored as we go on. If you'd like to participate in the planning/implementation, just put your name on the sheet (or just tell me). More than one person can team up to be a 'point person' if you'd like. This is going to be an exciting and incredible experience for our kids and our school! I'll keep you posted, but if you have ideas or if you want to help, don't be shy, JUST ASK.
- Black History Month - Don't forget about the Black History Month Bulletin Board. Need ideas, CLICK HERE for a list of some well known influential African Americans. If you click each name, you will find a link for biography information. You don't have to use someone on the list, it may just help generate some ideas. CLICK HERE for an example that I will be hanging up (George Washington Carver). Please let me know if you have any questions. There is no deadline, but if we can have several up by next week, that would look great!
- UPDATE TO PARCC DATES - The PARCC implementation has been changed to the week of May 8 (M 5/8 ELA1, T 5/9 ELA2, W 5/10 ELA3, Th 5/11 M1&2, F 5/12 M3&4). This gives two more weeks of instruction, etc. More info to follow.
