Hello BCS Staff:
Sick Leave Bonus Paid: I tip my hat to the 1232 staff members earning a sick leave bonus that was paid last week. This represents 47% of our eligible staff and shows a real commitment to our students and to Berkeley County Schools-thank you. I know that a number of folks missed the incentive and I want to thank you as well for your dedication. I encourage all of you to maintain the quality work ethic this incentive represents. I want to thank our Board of Education for providing this benefit to our staff.
Staff Return to School Preference: I want to remind you to complete the staff return to school preference survey that was sent via NTouch last Friday. Knowing your preferences and being able to have follow-up conversations with you about your plans is a key component in the return to school plan as we attempt to match staff preferences with those of our families. A family survey will be distributed this week. The deadline to make your preference is Thursday, July 23rd at 5 pm. Please be a part of the process as it is important information to start the school year.
78% of BCS Staff Plan to Return to Their Workplace
CEFP Available for Review: The Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan (CEFP) that was put forth by the CEFP Committee is now posted on the BCS website. You are encouraged to review and comment on the website or at a public hearing to be held via zoom on August 17th at 6 pm. CLICK HERE TO VIEW.
Final thoughts: As we move toward the target date for the start of school I recognize there are many questions and issues we are working to address and answer. I appreciate the work that all of us are doing to make it work and create the best solutions for students and staff. Thank you for continuing to stay focused, being reasonable, responsible and most of all understanding. We all come to our work and life with the best of intentions and wanting to make a difference, that passion and advocacy is very admirable and rewarding.
Be well, stay safe.
Patrick K. Murphy, Superintendent of Schools
