Principal Bodnar's Weekly Notes
Week Ending 4/5/2024
This Week At St. Ann
St. Ann has been busy this week. Students are preparing for the midterm of the quarter 4 which is next Friday, April 12th. Currently we have approximately 26 days of school left for this year. This year has flown by fast, it still seems like we just started. Students and teachers have been prepping for this Monday's solar eclipse. We have sent home special glasses with all students so they can observe the eclipse safely. Last week we had the Star Lab here which taught our students about what will happen on Monday.
Since we are not here on Monday, and you happen to drive by and see students in and on our grounds, please don't be alarmed. Loyal Academy from St. Louis has asked to use our facility to watch the eclipse. We will be blocking off our parking lots on Sunday afternoon.
Next week our students have 2 field trips going on. Tuesday the 5th-8th grades will travel to Springfield, Illinois to visit the the Capital and finish their studies in government. On Wednesday, all of the students from PreK- 8th will be going to the St. Louis Botanical Gardens to learn about plants and the ecosystem.
Yesterday, I was at the track meet at Mt. Vernon H.S. with our students. It was a cold day, but they worked hard and did their best.

Preschool
Although St. Ann Catholic School will close at the end of this school year, the Preschool program will remain open. Cost for Preschool next year will be $3200 for 5 days a week and $2600 for 3 days a week for the school year. The first day of Preschool will be August 12th, 2024 and the last day is to be determined but will be before the May Memorial Day holiday. Hours will be 8am till 3pm and the After School Program will be available from 3pm till 5pm for an additional fee.
Scrip
Since we will be working at closing down St. Ann over the next several months, we will not be ordering any Scrip. We have a ton of scrip on hand if you are interested in any, and you can still order it yourself on line.
Scrip is an easy way for families to make money for St. Ann and help pay your tuition. You may ask, "What is Scrip?", well scrip is basically gift cards for local and name brand stores and restaurants that you go to everyday. Instead of paying with cash or credit card, you purchase the gift cards from St. Ann and use these gift cards to pay for your purchase. This fundraiser costs nothing to you other than a few minutes of your time ordering, sending in the money, and picking up your gift cards. We carry a full line of local and most big box stores including Amazon here at school or you can go to raiseright.com and enter the St. Ann school code of 74D1Cl931431. Once logged in to the school account, you can order straight from the website and it will ship to us for pickup. Again, it's an easy and fast fundraiser for the school that takes no effort or cost for anything else to you, and 1/2 of the rebate we get for you buying the Scrip, goes to pay your tuition balance
Mr. Bodnar's Thoughts
Hello St. Ann Family,
As we finish up the Easter holiday season, our 2nd graders will be receiving their First Communion shortly. Mrs. Rolf has been working with them to prepare them for this most important event. I would like to give a big shout out to her for all her extra hard work in getting them ready.
We have 29 days of school left this school year. Each day is going to be important for our students to be here. We have many activities planned, but we are still providing our students with the required lessons they need to be ready to move on in the fall to the next grade. If possible, try to make sure your students attend each day.
In closing as we finish out the Easter season, I want to mention that Easter like Spring is a season of renewal. Renewal not only spiritually, but in our daily life. As we clean up our yards and home from the winter and start to plant grass and flowers, we need to reflect on reviving ourselves and looking at the things we can control and let go of the things that we can not control. As Jesus rose from the dead to provide us with a better life, we too must take the time to heal and reflect to provide ourselves with a better life. It's the season for renewal and new starts, we need to let ourselves renew and have a new start for the rest of the year.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday. Remember to wear your eclipse glasses if you are watching it so you don't damage your eyes.
