Grade 7 Students Community Service Project
Coins for Cuteness Campaign
Coins for Cuteness was started in 2014 by five second grader students at Pine Road Elementary. Over the years this group of girls has raised close to $4,000 for the Ronald McDonald House. These community service-minded second graders are now in 8th grade and are determined to continue this tradition during their final year at Murray Avenue. The girls are unable to raise funds in school but are continuing to work outside of school together to reach new people in the Philadelphia area and raise more for this great cause. Look for their Coins for Cuteness Ronald McDonald Fundraiser 2020 page on gofundme.
A Note from the Organizers:
The Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia supports families in the area with ill children that cannot afford housing, food, etc. Their efforts have helped thousands of families and need your help now more than ever! We know that everyone’s situation is different right now but if you are able to donate we greatly appreciate it. Every penny counts!
Thank you to Angelina Kabic-Palumbo, Alesandra Malave, Nina Dudek, Mia Belov, and Julie Zesinger for your great example of how young adults can make a positive difference in your community. We'll miss you next year and wish you the best of luck continuing these efforts at the high school!

Answers to Current Frequently Asked Questions from Students and Parents
I left items in my locker. Will I be able to get my belongings from my locker?
Yes. We have created a schedule for student belongings pick up. This will begin the first week in June. We will also be collecting items from students including library books, calculators that have been loaned, and textbooks. We will send a Connect Ed message with specific instructions and a schedule. This will take place June 1-June 5.
What will we be doing about 8th Grade Awards and 8th Grade Promotion?
We are planning viritual programs for both events.
Eighth Grade Awards program link will be sent on Monday, June 8, 2020, at 7 pm.
Eighth Grade Promotion link will be sent on Friday, June 12, 2020, at 9 am.
We are committed to celebrating our 8th graders' time at Murray Aveue. We are going to give all 8th graders their 8th grade t-shirt and a copy of the 8th grade panoramic picture as end of year gifts.
How will I get my yearbook at the end of the year?
Once we receive the yearbooks, we'll be in touch with families about distribution.
Communication During Distance Learning
Communicating by Email and Phone during Distance Learning
Email:
Some of our students are reluctant to use email to communicate with teachers. This is something that we need to help them become comfortable with, especially in this environment. This is important so teachers can answer questions or give them information.
Teachers are emailing students and in some cases students are not responding. We have asked all students to check their student email once a day. Please reinforce this with your child.
You may need to model how to ask a teacher a question or contact a teacher about an issue through email for your child. While this may not seem like a difficult task, we are finding that students have needed coaching related to email, specifically that they are expected to respond and that teachers are happy to answer their questions about assignments.
Technology Reminders:
Please email helpdesk@lmtsd.org if you are experiencing technology issues that you need help resolving.
Please remind your child to restart his or her Chromebook every day. This resolves many technology issues.
