As a thank you from the Kiwanis for raising so much money and working together during the coin drive, they would like to provide a cool treat. I am speaking with them currently and we can likely have the treat on June 10th after the End of the Year Assembly. The treats will be out and your class can file through as you leave the assembly and take an ice cream cup back to your room or out on the lawn. (There will be popsicles for dairy free students.)

Strategic Planning
The Board of Education and the Administration is launching a new initiative to guide Manchester Community Schools with a 3-5 Year Strategic Plan. The purpose of this initiative is to help us develop new goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for our students while using scarce public education resources in the most effective and efficient way.
The strategic planning process is designed to produce approximately 5 goals to be accomplished over a 3 to 5 year period. The plan uses data – along with the feedback of staff, students, and community members – to help identify priority goals that will help make the district an even better place for our students.
Teachers, you are invited to provide input on Monday, May 23, 2016, in the Ackerson Boardroom. High School and Middle School faculty will meet at 3:00 pm and Elementary faculty will meet at 3:30 pm.
Chad Tough at the Fair
The Manchester Fair dates are June 21-25, 2016 and this year we are coordinating with the ChadTough Foundation to raise money for research of childhood cancers. If you are not familiar with the ChadTough Foundation, you can click on this link: www.chadtough.org.
We have two big events planned during the fair that will be our primary events to raise money for this cause. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the ChadTough Foundation on behalf of the Manchester Community Fair and all of the volunteers. We will be having a Car Smash to see who can put the biggest dent in a car with a hammer as well as a dunk tank. We are looking for volunteers for both of these events and have broken it down into 1-hour time slots. Two volunteers are needed for the car smash at each time slot and three volunteers for the dunk tank.
We realize the summer is approaching very quickly and summer vacations may already be planned, but if you could give us just 1 hour of time to help raise money for the ChadTough Foundation, you would be making a huge difference in not only the community but to also those affected by childhood cancers.
I have already reached out to several coaches and their players within the school system but with everyone’s very busy schedules, it's hard to get a commitment. Keep in mind that this isn’t limited to just those within the school system or the community, anyone can volunteer. We are asking that you sign up via the online signup form to help us determine when more volunteers are needed.
ChadTough t-shirts will also be for sale during the fair. Those that are volunteering will be able to purchase the shirts early for only $10. By wearing this shirt the day that you have volunteered, it will get you into the fair for FREE.
Below is the online sign-up information. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
