1040 EZ Instructions
Step 1,2,3,4,5,6
Step 2 Taxable interest. If the total is over 1500 you cannot use 1040 EZ form. To find the table interest you need to look at your W2 form in the interest income box and it will tell you that number.
Step 3 is your unemployment compensation and Alaska permanent fund dividends. And you will put zero on that line if you employed.
Step 4 you add up your line 1, 2, and 3. Then put it on your line four box on your 1040 EZ form.
Step 5 If someone can claim you ( or your spouse if a joint return) as a dependent, check the applicable boxes below and enter the amount from the worksheet on the back. For line 5 check if your married or single then enter that number if your single or married.
Step 6 Subtract line 5 from 4. If line 5 is larger than line 4 enter 0. This is your taxable income.
Step 7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14
Step 8a Earn income credit. Its possible you can earn EIC if your married.
Step 8b you put 0
Step 9 add lines 7 and 8a. These are your total payments and credits.
Step 10 Use the amount on line 6 to find your tax table in the instructions. Then enter the tax from the table on this line. you use your W2 form and go under if your single or married then line it up and write that number down.
Step 11 Heath care if you have full coverage you put zero.
step 12 add lines 10 and 11 and thats your total tax.
Step 13a If line 9 is larger than line 12 subtract line 12 from line 9. This is your refund
Step 14 If line 12 is larger than line 9 subtract line 9 from line 12. This is your amount you owe. Then write if you refund or owe.
