We are excited to kick off another week at Laburnum. This week is particularly special because it's Teacher Appreciation Week. We will be celebrating our wonderful LES teachers throughout the week. Laburnum Spirit Wear Store
Our school is excited to present to you our Spirit store for Spring 2021! This is a great way to show your spirit and support our school at the same time. We have taken the time to create a brand new logo for the spring season. There are wonderful new items in our store surrounding our own Laburnum Lion. What better way to stay connected with us by wearing some incredible apparel representing the school.

General Information
Attendance: We are kicking off our student attendance raffle on Monday, May 3. Your children will earn a raffle ticket for each week that they have perfect attendance. At the end of the month, 6 student names will be drawn to win a prize.

Kindergarten Registration and NEW 1st - 5th Grade Student Registration
Kindergarten registration for the 2021-22 school year has started (by appointment only). Online registration is available now. Click the link below to go to the online registration page. If you would like an in person appointment, contact the school to schedule your registration appointment.
You can also use the link below to register any NEW 1st - 5th grade student.
There can only be two adults per registration appointment, everyone must wear a mask, and practice social distancing.

Summer Academy Information
Plans for Summer Academy 2021 are well underway! Summer Academy 2021 offers a unique opportunity for our currently enrolled Pre-K to Grade 5 students. At no cost to HCPS families, learners have the opportunity to receive teacher-led, in person or virtual learning in literacy and mathematics, along with social emotional learning. Reading and math activities will include whole class instruction in addition to small group instruction to meet students’ individual needs.
Elementary Summer Academy learning is Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 12 to August 5. Families have the flexibility to attend the entire four weeks, or they may attend a two-week session, July 12-July 22 or July 26-August 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be served, and transportation to elementary school sites will be provided.
The registration deadline is May 7, 2021. Current in person students will receive paper copies of forms the week of April 12th. Forms are attached below. We will also have some additional paper copies available at the school for any family to complete. Please return all forms to the school with your student or email the forms to Ms. Asja Jones, asjones2@henrico.k12.va.us no later than May, 7th.

- 4 Week Session (July 12-August 5), 8:30 - 12:30
- 2 Week Session (July 12-July 26), 8:30 - 12:30
- 2 Week Session (July 25- August 5), 8:30 - 12:30

- In person learner who will follow health mitigation strategies

Clinic News
Important Information for In Person & Virtual Students:
Families must report the following to the school:
- Your child has tested positive for COVID
- Your child has been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID.
- Your child has been tested for COVID and is awaiting results (regardless of reason).
- Your child has responded yes to any of the questions on the daily health screener questionnaire.
We will communicate this information to the HCPS health team which will make a determination as to when a student is able to return to school.
If your child is seen in the clinic due to experiencing COVID-like symptoms while at school, you will be provided with a note informing you of when your child is able to return to school.

Attendance Information:
Remember to complete the COVID Health Screener each morning with your in person studnt. If your child is sick, do not send your child to school. Please contact Ms. Jones, our attendance secretary, immediately. She can be reached via email at asjones2@henrico.k12.va.us or phone (804) 228-2720.
If you have a planned absence, such as a vacation, prior approval from the principal is required for it to be considered excused. Email Mrs. Boone at ntboone@henrico.k12.va.us.
In person students cannot move between in-person and virtual unless quarantined by School Health Services due to COVID related situations. If you, your child, or anyone in your home has been exposed, tested, or contracted COVID. do not send your child to school and contact us immediately.
Instructional Packet Pick Up:
We will resume distribution of instructional packets to support virtual students. Bins will be placed outside by grade level. Locate your child's grade level bin and select one package per LES student. If you arrive between 9 and 4 and the bin is empty, ring the bell and someone will make additional copies. See the dates below.
