Summer Break Edition
Summer Send Off
Congratulations on another successful school year! We would like to specifically wish the promoting class of 2022 all the best as they head to high school in a couple of months. Thanks to all of you who joined us this week as we had an amazing 8th grade promotion on Wednesday night with hundreds in attendance for our first in-person promotion in 3 years. Thanks to all of you for your dedication, flexibility, and support through this year and especially through all of the quarantines, contact tracing, remote learning, and low threshold for illness policies this year that were difficult on all of us. After these last two years, we know that the SV community can take on anything that comes our way!
As a reminder, our office will remain open until next Friday, May 27 at 3:00 pm and will then be closed until July 19. For those of you doing Jumpstart or ELA Boost this summer. you all should have received an email from district office with dates and details that went out earlier this week. The JumpStart principal at Sierra Verde will be Samantha Devriendt and you can reach out to her via email if you have questions regarding this program at Samantha.Devriendt@dvusd.org

PTSO Volunteer Spotlight and Update
On behalf of all our PTSO members, the 21-22 Board would like to thank everyone for all of their efforts on very successful year! We are already deep into planning for next year and look forward to being able to partner with more parents starting in August to make 22-23 even better with a "normal" start.
This year the PTSO stepped in to make every teacher an appreciation window poster for Teacher Appreciation Week. A big thank you to Justine Huh for helping the PTSO tackle such an important project and a huge thank you all the parent volunteers that worked with Justine to make sure every teacher felt appreciated when they walked into school Monday morning! It could not have been done without their help!
Special thanks to Tara Astgen who is our outgoing president for all of her efforts on the board this year!
Congratulations to our newly elected board for 22-23

A Note from Mrs. Hoffpauir
Dear Current Sixth and Seventh Grade Parents:
As the school year ends, many of our middle school students are eager to see their schedules for the upcoming school year. At Sierra Verde, our goal is to help develop a well-rounded child. One way we do this is by providing middle school students with opportunities to explore and experience a variety of exploratory courses beyond the core curriculum to broaden their perspective. These courses allow students to develop 21st century skills such as cultural awareness, social and personal responsibility, technology skills, communication skills, and real-world connections.
Students may request schedule changes during the first seven days of the 2022-2023 school year. These requests will be reviewed by administration and considered based on numbers and availability. Please hold all schedule change requests until that time. Because we are still enrolling new students and numbers are fluctuating, we will not accept any requests at this time.
While we are ready for summer, we also look forward to the new school year with excitement! Please know that we act with your child’s best interests in mind. Thank you for your continued support.
Have a wonderful summer!
