Important message about our Gold Ribbon Visitation
2. At 8:00 am all leadership council member meet with visitation team for 30 minutes in Room 1-102.
3. At 11:00 Paulson, Lippert, and Seaman along with selected classified staff members to meet with visitation team in Room 1-102 for 20 minutes.
4. Lunch will be provided in the Multi for all staff members from 11:45 until 1:00.
5. Professional attire requested for that day. If you have the green Land's End striped shirt please consider wearing that.
6. Please park in the front parking lot alongside Culver Drive. We will be using the parking lot in front of the gym for our guests that will be arriving throughout the day.

TPSF is sponsoring the Summer Academy STEAM logo design contest for any student in TUSD. Students have an opportunity to design a logo for this year’s Summer Academy STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) program. The theme of this year’s program is TRANSPORTATION—CARS AND ROCKETS AND THINGS THAT GO. Please read the attached rules. The winning artist will receive a $100 prize as will the teacher from the student’s school.
All submissions are due to TPSF by April 15, 2015.

Grants for Schools, Teachers and Students
For Teachers/Administrators
· Learning Expedition with the Asia Society International Studies Schools Network and EF Educational Tours: Join fellow educators from the United States for the opportunity to take an in-depth look at Chinese and Japanese educational practices. Visit local schools in Shanghai and Tokyo, participate in workshops, and see major cultural and historical sites. Learn about the internationally renowned "Japanese Lesson Study"—a professional development strategy for teachers—and the approaches being used in Shanghai to increase student achievement. Work together with other educators to advance the learning of global competence and to gather innovative practices that will enhance our work in U.S. districts, schools and classrooms. Tour dates: April 15–25. Learn more.
· Innovations in Reading Prize: The National Book Foundation sponsors this prize to honor an organization or individual who has developed an innovative program to promote and sustain the love of reading. A $10,000 prize is awarded. Deadline is February 28.
· American Friends of Russian Folklore: Middle school and high school teachers can travel to Russia for free on one of several travel programs. Two deadlines: February 28and April 31.
· The National Endowment for the Humanities summer seminars and institutes for educators are now accepting applications. They are funded and cater to both K–12 educators as well as college professors. Deadline: March 2.
· Teachers for Global Classrooms: TGC is a professional development opportunity for U.S. secondary teachers aimed at globalizing teaching and learning in their classrooms and schools. The program includes an online course, a Global Education Symposia in Washington, DC, and a two- or three-week international field experience in a participating country. Deadline: March 18.
· Apply by March 17 to become a Global Citizenship Fellow and work with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF Program and Community Engagement Division. The Fellowship is a highly-selective, full-time, 13-month program that prepares diverse, committed, and globally-minded individuals for effective leadership in public service.
· Qatar Foundation International awards Teacher Initiative Grants (up to $1000) to enhance Arabic programs and promote excellence in the classroom. Rolling deadline until April 1.
· McCarthey Dressman Education Foundation offers Academic Enrichment Grants that foster understanding, deepen students’ knowledge, and provide opportunities to expand awareness of the world around them. Awards for teachers include up to $10,000 a year for three years. Deadline is April 15.
· Voya Unsung Heroes Awards: Each year, 100 educators are selected to receive $2,000 to help fund their innovative class projects. Three of those are chosen to receive the top awards of an additional $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000. Due April 30.
· The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are the Nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. The 2013 Awards will honor math and science teachers working in grades K-6. Applications must be completed by May 1.
· Dominion K-12 Educational Partnership: Dominion accepts grant applications, up to $10,000, to encourage the development of new programs to strengthen math and science education through the study of energy or the environment. Due May 1.
· Jan Stauber Grant: This grant awards $500 to K-12 teachers and librarians who develop a teaching project introducing young people to Sherlock Holmes. Deadline May 1.
For Students
· The Global Citizens Youth Summit (GCYS) brings a select group of youth scholars from around the world and thought leaders to the Harvard University Faculty Club. During the program, participants investigate the idea of global citizenship. Following the Summit, scholars take action and follow their passion in taking on complex global problems in their local communities. Apply or nominate a student by March 1.
· National Geographic Student Expeditions: High school students have the opportunity to travel with a National Geographic photographer, writer, researcher, or explorer. Full scholarships are available and the application deadline is March 2.
· Global Citizen Year: Each year a group of high school graduates is selected to spend a year abroad as fellows in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Fellows are immersed in a culture different from their own, living with a host family and working locally. Rolling admissions; deadline: March 4
· CSIET 12th Annual Art Cover Design Contest: High school exchange students inspired by their experiences are encouraged to submit artwork representing the importance of international exchange programs. The winner will receive a cash prize of $500. The deadline for applications is April 3.
· Adobe Youth Voices Aspire Awards: Youth media makers ages 13-18 can enter their work in the form of a photo, illustration, audio piece, or short video to win prizes including hardware, cash, and more. Deadline is April 20.
iWitness Video Challenge asks middle and high school students to use their innovation and creativity to create positive value in their communities by doing something ordinary (or extraordinary), and then asks them to build a video telling the story. Deadline: May 8
