Week 11: October 18-22
A Message from Mrs. Oglesby
Upcoming Events
This week we are encouraging our students and staff to show off their school spirit with our October dress up days as we prepare for Pink Out this Friday and Red Ribbon Week next week. Our week will culminate with our annual Student vs. Staff Volleyball game. It is always a time filled with competition and fun! We hope to see students and parents at various events throughout the week including our final regular season football game, Parent U session, or our Theatre Department's production of James & The Giant Peach.
Grade Posting
The parent score reports for the Fall 2021 Ren360 BOY assessment and Term 1
grades are now available. The report provides parents with student results in the areas of math and reading along with explanations for terms used within the report. Parents can access the score report using Skyward Family Access and the report is located under the Portfolio tab. If you have any questions, please reach out to your student’s math or ELA teacher.
Campus Safety
We know that many of you may still have questions or concerns related to campus safety with the recent reported threats at our campus. Every reported threat is a serious matter and immediately involves the Fort Bend ISD Police Department and Campus Student Threat Assessment Team in the investigation. Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority and if there is ever a need to adjust daily operations or facilitate student pick up, the school will always communicate that information with you directly. At this time we do not have any evidence that substantiates any danger to the staff and students of SMS and look forward to the week ahead. I encourage you to speak to your child about what he or she communicates to others, and let him or her know that any threatening comments regarding student and school safety, made in person or any other form, will be treated seriously and could lead to legal consequences. Secondly, please remind and encourage your child to report anything they consider threatening or unsafe to a campus administrator, teacher, or trusted adult. During this time, we have heard many rumored statements that are only hearsay and not factual. I urge you to make sure your child is not spreading rumors or false statements. We will be devoting time to have ongoing discussions with our students so they feel safe and are aware of the impact their words and what they share on social media can have. Educating our students is our mission here at Sartartia and we have highly dedicated staff and resources available to assist with this process.
Thank you for your continued support, and should you have any questions, please contact me at (281) 634-6310 or using the grade-level contact information provided at end of this email.
Sincerely,
Cholly Oglesby
Principal

Level-Change Requests
Students can now begin to request a level change (change from an AAC class to an on-level class or change from an on-level class to an AAC class). Level change forms are now available for students to pick up in the Student Center, as well as the SMS counselor webpage under the "schedule changes" tab. The only schedule changes that will be processed are those on a completed level change form. Any forms that are missing a signature, will be given back to the student to ensure the missing signatures are obtained. The level change form is only utilized for students to move up to an AAC class or to an on-level class. Any forms requesting an elective change, teacher change, or rearranging of a student's schedule will not be processed and the students schedule will remain the same. For any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's grade level counselor. The deadline to turn in a completed level change form to the Student Center is the end of the school day October 20, 2021.

PTO Cash Drive
We are excited for the kids to be back in school and we look forward to an awesome year. To help launch our SMS students and staff towards success, we kindly have a one-time ask for a monetary donation to the SMS PTO Cash Jag Drive. This is the only fundraiser drive for our PTO for the school year. Our annual goal is $25,000 and by donating $25/student we can definitely reach that goal!
We would like to thank all of those who have joined our PTO and donated to our Jag Cash Drive (formerly Paws for the Cause) in the past. The PTO Jag Cash Drive helps pave the way to pay for basic needs to run a successful PTO program and supports Sartartia Middle school to be amongst the best in the district. Therefore, 100% of the donation money from the PTO Jag Cash Drive goes directly to fund classroom and school enhancements. Your donation money, no matter the amount, is greatly appreciated. If you would, fill out the form below and return to the Sartartia Middle School in person or by mail @ 8125 Homeward Way, Sugar Land, TX 77479.
