A Note from Ms. Ellison
Dear Glen Grove Families,
I am incredibly proud of your children and their hard work at Glen Grove. They have truly integrated the routines of school and are deep in the heart of learning. This week we had grade level planning meetings and every single team shared how the students in their classes were motivated and engaged readers!
We successfully completed our first round of SHIELD testing. The staff from the third party vendor shared that it was one of the most successful “school first days” that he observed. The students and staff did a great job! We know that it will only get easier with each time that we do it.
Monday morning will be another busy day. Not only will we be doing our second round of SHIELD, but we will also be doing our bus evacuation drill. During this drill students practice bus evacuation so that they are prepared if there is an emergency in the future.
Additionally, I want to thank each of you for your support with arrival and dismissal. We have observed students doing a much better job of sitting in their assigned seats on the bus and our car line has been much more orderly. Thanks for your ongoing support in making this a safe transition for our students.
Finally, I would love to hear some feedback from you on how you feel the school year is going. Home/school partnership is critical to our success and your ideas and suggestions are valuable to our school community. If you have any feedback (positive or constructive), please take a moment to fill out the Glen Grove family feedback form.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, comments, or concerns.
Sincerely,
Kate Ellison
Glen Grove Principal

5th Graders Apply for LRC Volunteer Positions
This year the 5th graders have the opportunity to volunteer in the library two ways, by being a Book Shelver and/or Turtle Care Giver. That is right, we have a new patron in the library, Boxer, the Boxer Turtle. Students who applied for the volunteer positions will be training during Open Library (7:30-8:00). Applications for the positions will open at the start of each trimester, giving everyone the opportunity to participate who are interested.
Thank You!
A big thank you to PTA for purchasing a portable microphone for the library. It will be perfect when we return to in-person author/illustrator visits some time in the future. It will be helpful when we are able to gather as a grade level for library events as well.
