WHAT WE ARE LEARNING NEXT WEEK
READING - we will continue learning about non-fiction text, using text features to navigate through the genre and determine the meaning of unknown words.
WRITING - we will continue learning about how to write non-fiction texts for a specific audience.
WORD STUDY - we will Verb Tenses: Reading Verbs and multi-syllabic words.
SOCIAL STUDIES - we will compare the role of public officials through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
SCIENCE - we will trace and compare patterns in movement such as sliding, spinning and rolling. We will learn how to communicate observations and justify the results of my investigation.
MATH - we will add up to four two-digit numbers and subtract two-digit numbers using mental strategies and algorithms based on knowledge of place value and properties of operations. We will solve one-step and multi-step word problems involving addition and subtraction within 1000 using a variety of strategies based on place value, including algorithms. We will generate and solve problem situations for a given mathematical number sentence involving addition and subtraction of whole numbers within 1,000.

- During the holiday season, the following programs are available to families who might have a need:
- St. Ann’s Thanksgiving baskets - Every year, St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Coppell provides Thanksgiving baskets with supplies to cook a turkey dinner to those in need. If you could benefit from this assistance, please click on the link below and fill out the Google form as accurately as possible. By completing this form you understand this information will be shared with St. Ann’s Catholic Church for distribution of your basket. Please fill out this form no later than October 20th, 2020. Thank you!
- Make a Child Smile- This program is sponsored by the City of Coppell that provides gifts for all the children in the family. This program is intended solely for children enrolled in CISD and residing within the city limits of Coppell. If you qualify and want your children to be included in this program, please go to this address: www.coppelltx.gov/make-a-child-smile. The online form should be completed by October 30, 2020.
- Valley Ranch Baptist Christmas Store – This program provides families with the opportunity to pick out 2 toys /gifts for each child plus socks, underwear and a t-shirt. Each family will also receive a Walmart gift card to help purchase groceries for the holidays. Please contact CHS school nurse, Beth Dorn for more information on registering for this program.. Registration will be October 11th and 14th.
