A Note from Mrs. Hoch
March 22, 2024
Dear Taylor Families,
This week Taylor students engaged in a lockdown drill. We conduct lockdown drills in order to be in compliance with amendments to NYS Education Laws and for the safety and security of our students and staff. These drills are essential because they prepare students and staff to respond to the highest level of threat with the most urgent action and the least margin for error. I am pleased to report that our staff and students did an amazing job!
While we still have a week to go, I hope you all take time during spring recess to get outside, play and enjoy the eclipse!
Calendar Reminders:
3/27 - Grade 3 Recorder Concert, 10:30 a.m.
3/29 - 4/8 - Spring Recess - No School
4/9 - School Resumes - Main Office will be located through door 12
4/15 - Taylor PTO Meeting, 6:30 p.m.
4/24 - Spring Book Fair

Spotlight on Grade 3
Students in grade 3 visited Roberts Wesleyan Community Orchestra. They explored various musical instruments, familiarized themselves with their unique sounds, and gained valuable insights as they consider playing an instrument next year.
PBJ Drive
It’s that time of year again to introduce our annual PBJ Drive, which will kick off next month and run the week of April 22 - 26. If you didn’t know this, donations from our community, coupled with just one other localized effort have resulted in over 9,000 jars of PBJ for our community food banks over the last 5 years alone! So, the next time you’re out grocery shopping, consider buying any/all of the following items, and be sure to send them into school with your kiddo(s) in April! All donated items will be brought to the Lockport PBJ group. Good Neighbors: Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive spreads love across WNY | wgrz.com

All District Instrument Concert
In honor of Music in our Schools Month, some of our grade 5 students participated in the All-District Instrument Concert.
Main entrance to close March 29th!
Our current main entrance will be closed upon returning from April break through the start of the following school year in September 2024. Any/all visitors to Taylor during this time will be directed to our temporary main office/greeter’s desk, which will be located at the current Continuing Ed entrance, Door 12, (west side of the building).
That said, the process for anyone picking up their child at our normal daily dismissal time (between 3:15 and 3:45 pm) will remain the same.
PreK families
Temporary student drop off will be directed to door 21 (cafeteria door). This is the same location where students are picked up at the end of the day. Student pick-up will remain the same.
We anticipate that the construction work across our schools and campus will impact traffic and congestion. Starting April 9, it is recommended that students ride the bus to and from school to maximize overall safety and reduce traffic and bus delays.
