Teaching and Learning Corner
This week’s focus is STRONG START! As you launch your classrooms this week, keep your “In Six Words” statement at the forefront of your minds. It is the reasons we got into this work that motivate each of us to create the classroom environments our scholars deserve.
At the end of 2018, you each met with Ms. Snyder to review your data. Ensure you are planning targeted intervention daily during your Academic Success Block. Ensure you are using rigorous materials such as iReady, Common Core Progress Books, Foundational Toolkits, and Engage Resources. If at any point you want additional planning help, reach out to your instructional coach!
This Week's Look Fors:
- Instructional Look For: CULTURE OF ERROR Normalize error: Show that getting it wrong is a normal and positive part of the learning process. Tone is critical.
- Cultural Look For: RESETTING NORMS Reintroduction of procedures and norms is a key component of fostering a culture of learning in your classroom. Ensure you are giving “what to do” directions and practicing your procedures. Ensure you motivate scholars by explaining the “why” behind each routine.
