ONE TRUE KING
On Good Friday I went out and worked on clearing some land with my dad and brother-in-law. The land is covered in honey locust trees which are covered in large thorns from trunk to the tip on every branch. Throughout the day we cut down no less than two hundred of these trees from about one to four inches in diameter resulting in countless scratches and punctures all over us. All three of us bled through our clothes in different spots... As we worked, a realization began to sink in and we began to talk about what it must have been like for Jesus when he bore his crown. We felt the burn and the sting from the trees limbs and thorns which is nothing compared to a crown of thorns pressed onto His head and the torture He endured. It humbled us quickly.
One of the the things I love about being out in God's creation is that he will always let you see his glory if you take the time to look. When my dad and brother-in-law left I stayed awhile and reflected on the day. As I reflected on what this week represents, and specifically Good Friday, I decided to create a crown of thorns from some of the trees that we cut down. It is a sobering reminder of the weight of the sacrifice that Jesus bore for our sins. I will keep this as a constant reminder of what he bravely endured for us.
The crown I made is not perfect and I am sure that the one Jesus wore wasn’t either.. but the man whose head it was on is.. The ONE TRUE KING LIVES!
Lead NWA well this week!
