FRIDAY RESULTS
The Freshman took home a dominating win Friday evening against Southside in two sets 25-7, 25-9. The Freshman team then traveled to Incarnate Word HS for a tournament placing third overall where the only loss of the day came to a tough game against Incarnate Word High School.
On the Friday the panther volleyball teams traveled to Southside to finish the first round of district play. The JV continued their winning streak by putting the Cardinals down in two straight sets. This puts the JV squad solidly in second place in district with a district record of 7-1. Overall the JV carries a season record 19-5. The panthers start the second round of district on Tuesday when the travel to Uvalde to take on the Lobos.
The Varsity volleyball team faced a very scrappy Southside team. The Varsity was able to take the first two sets 25-14, 25-22 but dropped the third set 20-25. The Varsity dug in their heels and rallied back to win the fourth set 25-23. Offensively the panthers were lead by Meghan Haan with 16 kills and 3 aces while Kamryn Griggs had 24 assists. Defensively, the panthers were lead by Hannah Hurtado with 15 digs while Kyla Solis and Kamryn Griggs had 3 blocks each. The girls start the second round of district play tomorrow in Uvalde. Game times are 5/5/6.
Football Update
The Panthers fell to the Champion Chargers on Friday by a score of 34-17. Champion came out with a strong first half, scoring 20 points and keeping the Panthers off the board for a 20-0 halftime lead. Medina Valley came out of halftime determined, and scored 17 unanswered to bring the score within three, 20-17. Unfortunately the second half push wasn’t enough to get the Panthers over the Chargers, as Boerne scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to increase their lead and seal the game at 34-17. Medina Valley showed a lot of heart, and the Panthers look to finish the regular season strong, starting next Friday, October 11th, when they host Kennedy high school for homecoming.
JUNIOR VARSITY
The JV Football team hosted the Champion Chargers last night at Panther Stadium. Your Panthers battled hard and pulled out a one point victory.
The scoring started with a 34 yard field goal by Bobby Peterson. During the first half the offense possessed the ball for 6 out of the 10 minutes. Leading tackler, Alex Luna, and the defense held the Chargers scoreless until 7 seconds remained in the half. At the break Champion held a 7-3 lead.
The second half was a new story. The Panther defense stuffed the Chargers on their first drive. After that the Panther offense went on a nine minute drive that culminated with a 32 yard pass from Nick Rash to Adam Chavez to the one yard line. Nick took it in on the next play.
The Chargers took the lead back in the fourth quarter, but on the ensuing kickoff, Damian Loy rambled for a 62 yard return. Almost immediately Bobby Peterson ran off the right side for a twenty yard TD.
Boerne didn't quit. They drove the field before Damian Loy added an interception on the five yard line. After that the Panthers gained a first down to end the game.
FRESHMAN
Both Freshman teams traveled to Boerne to face the Champion Chargers. The orange team fought hard but couldn't overcome the early deficit and lost the first game of the night 19-6. The black team came into the night hungry for a win. The offense got the fireworks started with a 12 play drive that ended with a touchdown pass from Asael Moreno to Raef Clendenin. The Chargers battled back and put a score of their own on the board. The second half was a back and forth defensive battle, but the Panthers took back the momentum when free safety Karson Solis intercepted the ball on the goaline. With only minutes left in the game the Panther offense drove down the field, and scored on a touchdown pass from Moreno to Isaian Gonzales, to bring them within one point. The Panthers then went for two to take the lead, and again a completion between Moreno and Clendenin gave the Panthers the lead and the win 15-14. The Panthers will have an off week next week before taking on Kennedy the following week.

AP PARENT ANNOUNCEMENT
The AP test registration process has changed this year. For the 2019-2020 school year students will register and pay for their exam by November 1st, but will still take the actual exam in May 2020. Students will be receiving information in their AP classes the week of September 23-27 on this new process. Just a few things to note:
All students taking an AP test will have to create a College Board Account and register to their specific class using a unique code. This code will be handed out to them when they receive registration information in class.
All students taking an AP exam will go through the Total Registration website to choose and pay for the test they are taking. If they took an AP test here at MV last school year they already have a Total Registration account.
ALL tests have to be chosen and paid for by November 1st.
