Building Futures
St. Albert Public Schools, in partnership with Encore Master Builder, is excited to launch our new Building Futures initiative – a first for St. Albert!
Building Futures is an opportunity for incoming Grade 10 students to spend the school year building a house from the ground up. Students will earn high school credits while learning hands-on construction-focused trades.
If you're interested in learning more about the program, please attend the parent information night next Thursday, April 11th, 6:30-7:30 pm at Bellerose Composite High School (49 Giroux Road). More information can be found on the flyer below or our division website at https://www.spschools.org/programs/off-campus-learning-dual-credit/building-futures
Registration is limited to 24 students so don't delay! Attend the information night to see if this initiative would be a good fit for your child!
Free Parenting Workshop April 9, 16 and 23
St. Albert Community Services and the St. Albert Family Resource Centre will be hosting a 3 part series dealing with anxiety in children and teens on April 9, 16 and 23 at the downtown St. Albert Library. For more information and to register click on the link below.
International Children's Festival Volunteers
St. Albert’s International Children’s Festival of the Arts brings the best in children’s arts and cultural experiences to the region in a way that removes barriers, fosters joy and creativity, and inspires the next generation of artists and patrons of the arts. This multi-day adventure has always depended on volunteers to stay running year after year. We strongly believe that there is a position at the Children's Festival for everyone. If you are curious about volunteering but cannot decide where to go or what to sign up for, please get in touch. We work hard to ensure our volunteers are valued, respected, and have a great experience.
Available positions include Feature Performance Venue Ushers, Hospitality, Activity Assistants, Volunteer Registration, Green Team, and so much more! Looking for more responsibility? Volunteers ages 16 and up are encouraged to sign up as Team Leads overseeing activity tents, greeting teachers and classes, and supervising fellow volunteers.
The Youth Ambassador Program is designed for youth ages 12 - 18. Youth Ambassadors are the 'first-face' of the Festival, greeting kids as they arrive on-site, providing information to teachers and parents at our Info Booths, warming up audiences at our Feature Performances and answering questions from the public. This position is great for youth who like to help out and are comfortable speaking to guests of all ages.
Why Volunteer?
- Help others
- Discover new skills
- Make new friends
- Accumulate community volunteer hours
- Shine up your resume and post-secondary applications
- Feel great and know you're making a difference in the life of a child
