COYOTE CONNECTIONS
Weekly Updates from Mrs. Cervantes - May 22, 2022
Our last day of school is this Wednesday, May 25th, and we have early dismissal at 11:45 AM. Please make every effort to pick your child up on time (or have someone at the bus stop as required for the younger students). Staff will have a meeting after school and will then be finishing packing up for our summer construction work. Coyote Ridge is getting new flooring in the classrooms to replace the 15-year old carpeting in all areas - yay! We're excited about the fresh flowing in our classrooms and the library.
Thank you for being patient about the school supplies "Wrap Packs" ordering information. PTA has already submitted the information and has been working with the company on finalizing and approving the order forms. We are expecting the flyers and ordering information this week at the latest, and I will send it to all parents in a separate email as soon as I receive it.
It was been my greatest pleasure working with you, your families, and your children this school year. Thank you so much for your continued support as we had another atypical year with the continuing pandemic. So many of our "normal" events were adjusted to virtual events, severely adjusted to outdoors events, or not held at all. Things are looking so bright, however, and this spring has been great. PTA is already working with me and other school staff on plans for the start of school and the fall. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting 2022-23 school year!
Have a fantastic summer!

5th Grade "Moving Up" Celebration
We are excited to celebrate the moving on of our 5th graders, to middle school next year. We look forward to celebrating with 5th grade parents/guardians this Wednesday, May 25th from 8:30-10:00am (siblings at CRE will not be able to be pulled out of class to attend).
Parents and guests should check in with the front office (with drivers license/ID) and gather in the gym before 8:30am. 5th graders will do a final walk through the halls for a "clap out" by the younger students (and staff) before gathering for the ceremony in the gym. Once the ceremony is over, parents may sign their child out and celebrate their special day together. Also, it’s an early release day @ 11:45 am on Wednesday.
We look forward to this program being a success and celebrating the end of this last year of elementary school with your families!
From the Librarian
Hello CRE families! Thank you so much for all of your support this school year! Our students have learned to be responsible library users and to use reading as a form of entertainment and not a chore. Please help me continue to foster a love for reading! With that in mind, I wanted to share the Summer Reading Challenge that I shared with students this past week! The front is our CRE Reading Challenge where students will read and cross out the boxes they complete. If this is returned to me on Meet the Teacher night or the first week of school, students will be eligible for a prize. The back is where you can find information on reading challenges and other fun summer events around town. Scan the QR codes to learn all about them!
We are still missing 30 books that have not been returned. If your child has an overdue notice, please help them locate the book or reach out to me about taking care of the fine. Fines can be paid with cash/check (payable to CRE) or with credit online. If you choose to pay online please let me know so I can set it up on Revtrak. I encourage all 5th grade students to clear their account before moving into middle school.
Thank you again for all your support! Have a great summer!
Mrs. Hernandez, CRE Librarian
Summer Food Locations
We have information for you regarding the summer feeding plans from the Child Nutrition department.
LISD Child Nutrition department has updated their webpage at https://www.lisd.net/Page/25446 with the most up-to-date and current information we currently have on summer feeding sites. Please note, this information is still being finalized and may change slightly. We have also made a very helpful interactive map that will be regularly updated with times, meals, dates, AND show additional partner locations around the LISD area. https://bit.ly/LISDSummer2022 .
Please be aware of a major change in the summer food program that is different from last summer. This year, all food must be consumed on-site and cannot be taken to-go. There will be no curbside service options. The previous waivers that were in place allowing curbside/ grab-and-go service were due to the COVID pandemic, and have since expired. Due to this, we must return to service that requires all students to eat their meal onsite to be within TDA guidelines.
