MWES News- March Edition
Encouraging Excellence in our Panther Cub Community
Greetings from Ms. Colon
March is here! I am super excited about the growth our students have made thus far. Our teachers are working hard to prepare them for the upcoming assessments. Your support communicating to your student the importance of staying on task truly matters.
Spring Break is around the corner; I ask that you consider taking a vacation during that week. Additional days off will have an impact on your student's learning; as they might miss important content.
March is filled with activities that will be fun for all involved. Our One School One Book night will celebrate literacy and foster the love of reading. Our PTO will also be hosting a Bowling Day where you will be able to have a great time with friends and family.
I cannot wait to see what Spring brings. Stop by, spend time with us and your student.
Proud to be your leader,
Mrs. Colon

Student illness
To prevent the spread of disease and to protect your student, please keep your student home and/or make an appointment with your health care provider for the following symptoms:
- temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- severe sore throat, headache, or cough
- eyes with inflammation, redness, and watery or purulent drainage
- undiagnosed and/or untreated skin rash
- communicable disease
If a student becomes ill during school, the parent/guardian of the student must be contacted before a student is allowed to leave the building. It is important to provide your student's school with updated contact numbers so parents/guardians may be reached concerning illness, as well as emergencies.
STUDENT ABSENCES-CHANGES AHEAD
EARLY CHECKOUT....
Students will not be called out of class until a parent is present to sign them out. Please plan ahead for appointments, as we would like to minimize missed class time.
The law requires meetings for those with chronic absences. http://www.doe.virginia.gov/support/prevention/attendance-truancy/index.shtml
