5 Apps to Promote Learning
Apps that are helpful, resourceful, and creative
Animation Creator HD
This apps lets students create their own animations and add their own audio to it. This app would work well for a elementary language arts class who are learning about the who, what, where, when, and why for recounts. They could create an animation about what they did on the weekend and add the recount components therough their added audio.
Journal Jar
To use this app you only have to shake it to uncover a random writing prompt. I would use this app in my classroom for the students who have difficulty overcoming writer's block or getting their ideas down on paper. I would use this app every day for five minutes and have the students write non stop about whatever topic comes up on screen. This will help manage their brainstorming and prove to them that they can get their creative ideas out of their head and on to the page.
Audioboo
A podcast app that can be used for students who have an interest in jounalism. These students can create a podcast channel that allows them to have subscribers who listen to the channel for up to date school news about announcements and upcoming school events.
Kids Academy 123 Tracing
An app for young elementary students to learn how to recognize numbers. The app uses the touch screen capability of smart phones to allow students to have hands on experiencing learning and recognizing numbers. This app would be used in a kindergarten or grade one setting for children to become familiar with numbers.
Math Bingo
This app asks the students math questions about addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, in a bingo template. the questions are timed and I would use it in a math class where the students are just beginning to master these math skills. It is a spin off of the old paper and pen mad minutes because it is timed and students can try and beat their personal scores.
