A note from our teachers regarding winter gear and recess:
From the Primary Teachers: Students MUST wear snow pants, boots, jacket, hat and gloves outside for recess. I know the weather has been warmer, but the snow pants help keep the students dry since the playground is very wet. If your child does not wear his/her snow pants outside for recess, he/she will have his/her name written on the clipboard. After his/her name is written on the clipboard three times, a formal write-up will be done and your child will lose one Lynx Track. Your child will also only play on the blacktop if he/she does not have snow pants or boots so he/she will not get his/her clothes or shoes wet. Your child may keep his/her winter gear at school if this is easier. The weather changes suddenly here. It is good to keep winter gear on hand at school.
From the Intermediate teachers: Cold weather is coming! 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students are now required to have snow pants, warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots. Students should notify their teacher if they don’t have the necessary clothing. Students who don’t have the necessary clothing will not be allowed to participate in recess. In addition, kids who repeatedly lose or forget their gear will lose Lynx Tracks.
The PTO is planning our annual Box Tops Store! This is a great opportunity for kids to pick out gifts for themselves and their families. If you have any gently used items or toys to donate, please bring them to the office. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
As the holidays approach, classes may be doing holiday parties. Please remember that if you want to attend or help out with class events, birthdays, parties, etc, you must be an approved volunteer. If you have not done the application yet this year, please go to www.kpbsd.k12.ak.us and click on Volunteers. This may take a few weeks after completion to be approved, so be sure to apply well before you want to visit a classroom.
Several smaller items have been turned in the office lost and found. If you are missing an earring, watch, ring, necklace, or other small item, feel free to check with the office small-item lost and found.
Cash Raffle Tickets are still on sale in the school office. There are only a few left, so stop by if you want one! They are $20 each and the Grand Prize is $2500, with only 400 tickets sold.
From Nurse Claudette:
The average child can pull on her own boots and coat, starting at about preschool age. But knowing when these items are warranted is a different story. Just like any other skill, a child can be taught how to dress herself appropriately for cold weather. Developing this skill takes lots of practice and reminders! Cold weather is here. Please remember to dress your children for wet, snowy conditions! If you are in need of help to provide your child with basic winter gear, please call Nurse Claudette 907-260-1372
Thank You
