Oceanport Charges Ahead With a Plan for a School Facilities Project for Both Schools
At last week's Board of Education meeting, Solutions Architecture presented a possible plan for renovations of both schools, Wolf Hill and Maple Place. The Board of Education and Administration are in agreement with moving forward with their plan to add additional space to Wolf Hill School and modify the existing buildings to meet the capacity and educational needs of our increasing population of students, PK-8. Highlights of the proposed plan's specifications include: additional classrooms, a new library/media center and cafeteria at Wolf Hill School, a new Science Lab at Maple Place, Innovation Lab spaces in both schools for STEAM and STEM, a fenced in playground area, HVAC and building envelope upgrades, safety/security upgrades, and ADA compliant structures. These modifications, renovations, and upgrades will add value to our school district's community and provide adequate support for progressive educational practices in our schools. Above all, this proposed plan reflects the core values of our entire community and its stakeholders. Thank you, on behalf of the current and future students of the Oceanport School District, for your continued support of our project and its much greater purpose. We appreciate your active participation and value this opportunity to make the decision to do what is right for our beloved community. Please follow our progress on social media via the Oceanport School District Facebook page or attend our next Board of Education Workshop meeting on March 13th at 7pm in the Maple Place School Library.
Oceanport is on its way to being considered Future Ready!
The Oceanport School District is charging ahead by embarking upon the commitment phase of the Future Ready Schools New Jersey journey. We have taken the pledge and formed our Innovation Teams consisting of administration and instructional staff members from both schools and Board of Education representation. February 28th, otherwise known as Digital Learning Day, marked the start of the 2019 Future Ready certification cycle. Goals of the Future Ready Schools initiative include: fostering a culture of collaborative leadership, providing rigorous academic content for all students to build life skills, empowering professional learning opportunities, transitioning to an "anytime, anywhere" learning mindset, rethinking the use of space and time for innovative practices, implementing thoughtful data and privacy policies and protocols, and focusing on long-term sustainability. We are looking forward to this reflective and proactive process to bridge together and share innovative practices in both schools, PK-8!
