Week 36
Learning centre reminder:
On Monday 15th June please can the children return all library books to the learning centre. They will get the opportunity to visit during snack and lunch times.
Home reading scheme:
Please can children return all home readers by Wednesday 17th June. We will continue to record the books that they read from home in their reading diary after this date.
Swimming reminder:
As part of our PE programme, we will be continuing our swimming lessons next week. Please remember to bring in a $5 coin for the lockers, as well as your swimsuit, swimming cap, goggles, flip flops and towel.
Portfolios:
The children will be bringing home their portfolios at the end of next week to share their wonderful array of learning.

Transdisciplinary Theme: How we Express Ourselves
Central Idea: A person's behavior and how they choose to present themselves can project aspect of their identity.
Lines of Inquiry:
The influence of culture and social norms on an individuals self concept and self worth.
The arts as a form of expression
How appearance and behavior influence our perceptions of others.
Concepts: Form, Perspective, and Reflection
The children have been expressing their identity through a range of arts this week. Next week they will begin to select particular ways to showcase their identity (e.g. dance, music, poetry). This links nicely to our homework below...
Maths
Strand: Manipulation of Shape
This week we will completing our final strand unit which incorporates the following:
- Transform, reduce and enlarge two-dimensional shapes
- Describe and model congruency and similarity in two-dimensional shapes
- Describe direction using the eight compass points
- Locate and record features on a grid using coordinates in two quadrants
Number:
In the final few weeks of term the children will be given a choice to review particular areas of learning that they might want to develop from the number work this year (e.g. four operations, fractions, place value).
Homework this week
This week's homework:
In preparation for our summative assessment for this unit we would like the children to find a suitable sized box (e.g. tissue, cereal or shoe box) and cover it in a colour that represents their personality. Please DO NOT decorate further as this will be done in class as part of the learning. Please also leave an opening for your box so that you can access the inside. This homework is due on Monday 15th June.
