Talley Updates
Google Meet
Please Uninstall Meet-Related Extensions
There are a lot of exciting new features coming to Google Meets that will allow us to make our class sessions even better. Please assist as by uninstalling all Chrome extensions related to Google Meet EXCEPT Nod. Directions for how to do that are here. When uninstalling, you may notice that some extensions are not able to be removed, or that you don't have any extensions relating to Meet. That is okay! We do not want you to get rid of all extensions, we just want to ensure that if anyone has added extensions for Google Meet on their own, that those are taken off in order to ensure that the new features work.
Tile View
A video link is below that shows students how to turn on tile view, which will enable them to see all of their classmates at the same time. This does NOT work when a teacher is sharing their screen, but will be great for class discussions, CREW meetings, etc. This is also posted in their Media Center Google Classroom under "Technology Support."

Hispanic Heritage Month Reading Challenge
Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15-October 15
To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the Talley Media Center is hosting a reading challenge!
- We have curated a collection of books in our media center written by Hispanic/Latinx authors and illustrators, and/or nonfiction texts about important Hispanic/Latinx figures.
- If students read one of these books and write a review on Destiny, they will be entered to win a pass that will allow them to skip the hold line for a media center book.
- More details can be found on students' Media Center Google Classrooms under "Library Programs."
The collection includes picture books, chapter books, and graphic novels. We hope that you and your child take this time to fall in love with some new-to-you books that honor some amazing authors, illustrators, and historic figures. Happy reading!
After School Activities
Beginning and Intermediate Orchestra
Beginning Orchestra starts the week of Oct 5th!
Beginning Orchestra is open to all students (3rd, 4th, and 5th) who wish to learn to play the violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Classes will meet twice per week BEFORE the school day from 7:15-7:45 AM. Which two days your child will attend depends on the instrument he or she chooses.
The fee for the full year of orchestra classes is $200. Need-based scholarships for the class fee and/or instrument rentals are available. For more information about classes, instrument rentals, or to register your child for orchestra, please visit www.DecaturStrings.com.
If you have further questions, please contact the Program Coordinator (Nia.Schooler@DecaturStrings.com).
