Bible
The students will begin Lesson 2- Bible Study and Prayer. We will learn how we can know God through worshiping, praying, Bible study, and witnessing. We will focus on the life of King David.
Tuesday, Sept. 20th test: Psalm 103:6-11 "The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him."
This test will be fill-in-the-blank.
Tuesday, Sept. 27th test: Psalm 119:9-11, "How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." The test will be fill in the blank.
**Bible CHALLENGE! Complete nightly reading of scripture verses located on pg. 30 of Bible workbook. If completed by October 12th, the students will receive a homework pass.** (this is only a bonus, it doesn't count against the student if not completed)**
Spelling
Please see the Spelling sheet located in the student's binder for all Spelling homework and information. We will begin Lesson 7 on Thursday!
Lesson 6 test: Wednesday, September 21st!
English
Chapter 2: Narrative Writing
The students will be taking two virtual field trips. One to the Statue of Liberty and the other to Ellis Island. The students will be writing about their experiences and what they have learned about these American symbols.
IN-CLASS Narrative essay will be the test grade and is due on Tuesday, Sept. 27th!
Letter F is due mini-research is due Tuesday, Sept. 20th!
Letter G will be due on Tuesday, Sept. 27th!
*Now that Olympics is over, students can choose any Patriotic/American word for the min-research topics. Please see the topic sheet in your child's binder.

Reading
Unit 1 Lesson 4: Novel Study: Frindle by Andrew Clements
The students will take part in their first novel study. The skills for Unit 1 Lesson 4 will be taught using the novel reading. The content on the novel WILL NOT be in the reading test, but short quiz grades will be taken every third chapter.
Strategy: reread to answer questions
Skill: Cause and Effect
Genre: Narrative Fiction
Vocabulary: Context Clues
Writing: Adding ideas to make our writing interesting.
Unit 1 Lesson 4 Test: Thursday, Sept. 29th
**This novel study will also lead the students into the first IN-CLASS book report for the first nine-weeks. We will be using an iPad App to complete the book report. Stay tuned...more details to come.
