Rimrock Raider Newsletter
End of 3rd Quarter (March 2024)
Principal's Update
We are speeding into Spring, with the end of 3rd quarter this week and Spring Break less than 2 weeks away. With a very busy February behind us, we are looking forward to the warmer weather and excitement that comes with the final quarter of the school year.
With the quarter wrapping up, it is very important that students are giving their best effort and turning in any missing work before quarter grades are final. That said, our Raiders are currently passing 97% of their classes, which matches the best rate I've seen this year. We hope this success continues as we begin standardized testing in April. We are confident that when our students "show what they know" on ISATs and our End-of-Year MAP tests, they will be proud of their results.
We are also excited about our senior class, as every one of them has been accepted into at least one college or school AND has been offered some type of funding or scholarship. Seniors have their class trip to the Oregon Coast coming up over Spring Break, and after that they will be wrapping up and presenting their Senior Projects as they enter the home stretch of their time at Rimrock.
Also noteworthy is that several of our teachers have been working hard to find opportunities for students to get out of the building and enjoy unique experiences and interesting places. Recently the 6th graders went to the Boise Art Museum and Capitol Building, and the 8th Graders went to the Capitol Building as well, along with the Old Idaho Penitentiary. There are more trips coming, as the 7th graders will be going to the Birds of Prey Wildlife Center and Idaho Reptile Zoo, the Journalism class will be visiting the Owyhee Avalanche and a local news station, 8th Grade Careers will be visiting some local businesses, and FFA has Welding Wars followed by the State Convention after Spring Break.
Spring sports are also underway already. This Spring, Rimrock is fielding a Baseball team, Track team (High School and Junior High), and Golf. Competitions are just starting, and the schedule will increase in tempo after Spring Break. We are looking forward to seeing our Raiders in action as they strive to be their best.
Finally, I want to note that we recently had an assembly where we talked about the importance of students behaving with Integrity and Respect toward one another. While we've had a few behavior challenges over the last month, I genuinely appreciate the character and effort that the vast majority of our students bring to school each day. It is a privilege to work with our community's young adults and children, and I am committed to making Rimrock a place they can be proud to attend and graduate from.
