Academics
Social Studies - This week we will continue discovering what type of government we have, and the powers of our federal government.
Reading - Our Adventure/Survival unit continues this week and we will learn how to build important ideas from small details in the stories that we are reading, and carry those ideas with us. We will also spend time this week preparing for the M-Step by doing a classroom activity and performance task.
Writing - This week will finish our on-demand writing pieces for our non-fiction unit (we drafted them on Friday). We will then begin our poetry unit.
Science -Science will then be put on hold while we focus on Social Studies.

LANSING
Thank you to our wonderful chaperons who make the trip to Lansing extra special! We appreciated you giving your time (and energy) to make the trip, and I hope that you found it a rewarding experience as well.
This spring, all Michigan public school students in grades 3-8 will be taking the M-STEP (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress). This replaces the MEAP test. The Michigan Department of Education has released a preview, so that students can become familiar with taking this computer based assessment. We will be doing some practice in school using this website, as well as other performance tasks that the state has released (as I mentioned in the "Academics" section above. I encourage you to check out the following link. There is a preview, sample items, and a look at the calculator tool. Don't worry about the calculator, as 4th graders will not have access to it.
