Pajamas, Popcorn, and Reading! It's Friday, March 1!
CVE has loved celebrating February’s “I Love to Read” month! We have one final event planned for Friday, March 1. All students in grades K-5 can wear their pajamas to school on Friday, March 1. We will be having an all-school reading celebration during the day. Students get to cozy up with a book while eating popcorn. Thank you for supporting the various activities to promote reading during February. We hope your child enjoyed the events!

I Love to Read Student Calendar!
Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA)
Lakeville Area Schools will be participating in the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) this Spring. Students in Grade 3 through Grade 11 will take the Math, Reading and/or Science assessment during the window of March 4 through May 10.
Lakeville Area Schools along with all Minnesota school districts give the MCAs every year to measure the achievement on the Minnesota Academic Standards as well as academic progress of students over time. These assessments meet the state and federal accountability requirements per Minnesota Statute 120B.30 and ESEA. Parents/guardians can review their child’s respective school website calendar for specific assessment dates.
Individual student results will be distributed to families in Fall 2024.
District-wide and school building results can be found on the Minnesota Department of Education website under the Minnesota Report Card.
The MCAs represent one data point within the District’s comprehensive assessment framework.
Daily Desired Experience Student Survey
As part of the district’s ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of its students, a strategic plan was developed in the 2022-23 school year. This plan outlines the ‘desired daily experience’ that we aim to provide within all of our schools based on student, staff and parent/caregiver input.
In order to know if we are improving the daily experiences of students , we will be conducting an annual student survey March 4-15. The survey will be administered to students in Pre K-12, and the feedback gathered will play a critical role in shaping our future planning.
The survey will be conducted at school andis estimated to take approximately 10-30 minutes to complete, depending on the grade level. We encourage all students to participate, but it is voluntary. All responses will be confidential and anonymous. Parents/guardians may opt their students out from participating by completing the form linked here by Friday, March 1.
Thank you for your support and collaboration as we work together to create a positive and enriching school experience for all our students.
Roller Skating in PE March 18th - 22nd
All CVE students will be roller skating in PE the week of March 18th-22nd.
All students are required to wear a helmet. This can be a bike, ski, hockey, etc. type of helmet. If a student does not have one, we have ones they can borrow.
Students are allowed to bring their own skates/rollerblades. We will have roller skates provided by Skateville for all students that do not have their own. All of the skates Skateville provides have laces. PLEASE TEACH AND HAVE YOUR STUDENT PRACTICE TYING LACES if they do not know how! This important life skill will allow them more time to skate and they will also have learned a skill to help them down the road.
NOT REQUIRED are additional safety equipment such as elbow and knee pads. If sending these with your student, they must be able to put them on themselves as helping with skates and helmets take priority.
Lastly, our CVE Night at Skateville in Burnsville will take place on March 26th from 5:30-7:30. It is $7/person and includes regular skates. You can also rent rollerblades for $4 extra. This is for all family members/friends of CVE students and you may attend for part of or the whole time!
