Birthday Celebrations
Our Teacher Representative on the PTSA Board is Mrs. Terri Leon!
I am a 7th grade social science teacher at Hutchinson Middle School, who has been teaching for 32 years. My areas of expertise are Social Studies and Humanities. I graduated from Whittier College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and I received my master's degree in School Counseling in May of 2005. I never pursued school counseling, because I enjoy teaching history so much. I began my career in teaching as a student teacher at Whittier High School and Dexter Intermediate. I spent two years teaching in a private school and was hired by NLMUSD in 1993. My first job was teaching bilingual kindergarten at New River Elementary!!! After seven years at New River teaching various grade levels (mostly 5th), I moved on to teach middle school and have been teaching 6th – 8th ever since. I have taught at Corvallis, Los Alisos and Hutchinson. Hutchinson is my home and has my heart. I love the students, staff and especially our wonderful principal, Mrs. Bae. I am enthusiastic about teaching middle school students because they are eager to learn when guided and properly encouraged.
I have been married for 22 years and have two wonderful children. My son, who is 21, is a student at CSULB and my daughter, who is 18 is a student at LBCC.
As a parent, I’m so happy my kids have had Ms. Leon and remember her fondly as a very supportive, caring teacher. Thank you for being our Teacher Representative and for being such a positive role model for our students!
P.S. Save This Date - May 17, 2023!! History and Cultural Faire!
Mrs. Leon and our wonderful teachers are heading this fun, festive, and informative event. We will need parent volunteers at the booths - more details to follow!
