The Siegrist Star
Week of March 11, 2024
Read Across America Week
Siegrist celebrated Read Across America this week! Read Across America is an initiative established by the National Education Association in 1998 and is the nation's largest celebration of reading. This event encourages children to immerse themselves in books wherever they are, fostering a love for reading that extends beyond the classroom. By promoting reading in schools and communities, the program seeks to instill a lifelong passion for learning and storytelling in young people across the country. Seeking Input on School Counseling Curriculum for 2024-2025 Year
The school counseling curriculum is systematically presented by school counselors in the areas of social/emotional, academic and career development based on Missouri School Counseling Big Ideas and Grade Level Expectations (GLE) Each year we seek parent and teacher input as to which standards you feel our Siegrist students could really use. The counselors take your collective feedback and ensure that the comprehensive school counseling program specifically addresses the needs of our students.
Surveys only take a few minutes, please take a few minutes to complete a survey for the grade(s) your student(s) are in. Surveys are available from March 8 through April 8th, 2024. Last year we had a total of 24 responses. Our goal this year is 60 or more responses......please share your thoughts!.
Thank you.

Make Up Day Plans
With our inclement weather days in January, and no school on February 14 to celebrate the Chiefs Super Bowl parade, our make up day plans to date are as follows:

- January 10 Inclement Weather Day - Will be made up on Friday, May 24
- January 16, 19, and 23 Virtual Learning Days - Will not need to be made up
- February 14 No School Day - Because our attendance hours exceed the necessary hours set forth by the state, the Board has approved not making this day up
"Save The Date": Siegrist MAP Testing Dates
Students in grades 3rd-5th will be taking our Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests in April and May. The district testing window is April 22- May 17th. Students in grades 3-5 take both a math and ELA test. Grade 5 also takes a science test. Below are the testing dates, by grade level. If you could "save the dates" to ensure your child(ren) are in attendance for these testing windows we would be appreciative. If you already have commitments on these dates and know your child(ren) will be gone please let your child's teacher know. We can be proactive and develop a plan for your child(ren).
Thank you for your partnership! An official MAP letter from the district will be emailed to parents of students in grades 3-5, on March 8th. Be on the look-out for it.
