The Cask of Amontillado

Literary Device #1
In "The Cask of Amontillado" Edgar Allen Poe creates imagery when he says " Its walls had been lined with the human remains, piled to the vault overhead, in the fashion of the great catacombs of Paris. Imagery is a word or phrase that appeals to more or one of the five senses. The narrator of the story is describing the looks of the catacombs in Paris. He is telling the reader, with vivd words, how its all lined with human remains and how tall they go up.
Literary Device #2
In the story, Edgar Allen Poe's tone is dark and twisted. The tone is the writers attitude toward the audience or subject. The author explains, "...I given Fortunato cause to doubt my good will. I continued, as was my want, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation.
Literary Device #3
In the story the author uses irony to show insight of how twisted Montresor is. Irony is words used to suggest the opposite. The author shows irony by writing "... your health is precious. You are rich respected, admired, beloved: you are happy as i once was. You are a man to be missed.

This program is very organized and easily followed. SMORE is limited on its variety of fonts and designs to make it unique. Our group liked using SMORE because it was very nice and we could find everything that we needed.
