A Quick Trip to the Fabric Market
After I wrote the date on this flyer, it occurred to me that it was the anniversary of the May 4th Kent State Riots. How ironic that we nearly had a riot on my own little campus, half a world away, on the same exact day.
Traditional Chinese Fabric
It's like a feast for the eyes.
More Traditional Chinese Fabric
Red and gold fabric, all stacked up in tidy rows.
And More Traditional Chinese Fabric
Red, black and purple fabric, all neat and ready for sale.
Purple Paisley Traditional Chinese Fabric
I bought a half meter of the purple paisley fabric.
The Fabric Guy
He's a very friendly guy, very patient, very helpful.
Green, Teal and Blue
I bought a half meter of the teal fabric in the center.
He had to scale these tall rolls of fabric
in order to get to some fabric for a customer.
The customer picked out this bright orange fabric
with a silver paisley print
Me and the Fabric Guy
I just had my hair cut and colored the night before.
You can't see it in this picture,
but this fabric is a pink tone on tone traditional fabric with a repeating pattern of lanterns and fish.
It looks lovely.
Too beautiful to pass up.
Cutting the Fabric
She bought 5 meters for a dress.
They put this over pass up really quick.
It's a lot easier to get to the fabric market now.
Just a few short months a go it was a real disaster trying to navigate the holes in the road and walk way.
We made a new friend.
He just wanted to chat and chat with us, but neither of us could understand what the other one was saying.
Say "Cheese."
He was so happy to have his picture taken.
When we came back to campus,
we were shocked to find that the students were being prevented from leaving the campus.
This is the scene after the initial commotion.
The parents were frantic.
The students were scared.
The parents broke down the gate to get to their children.
No one knew what was going on, but the students were being prevented from leaving the campus by police orders. If you want to know more about this situation you can send me a message.
A few weeks ago
the pollution was over 400, maybe more like 500. The online monitor app hovered around 400 and then froze for a few hours and then reset itself around 200, even though nothing and changed. It was like squinting through pea soup.
