High School Weekly Update
March 22, 2024
Counselor's Corner
Happy Friday Knights!
It is so hard for me to believe that this time next week, we will be on Spring Break. This means the end of this school year is in sight. I find myself split between focus points at this time of year. Maybe you are too. On one hand, I am thinking about how to end this year on a strong point. I’m looking at grades, student development, attendance, and more. On the other hand, I am spending time on registration, CCP meetings, and dreaming about what I can do to be better next year.
I share those insights about myself because I hope that you are doing both in your own way. My hope is that you are spending time looking at where your grades are at this point and choosing to do what is necessary to end the year in as strong of a position as possible. It is not too late! I hope that you are doing all you can to be present at school and to prepare for those final exams and AP/EOC tests. Study hard and complete your assignments on time. Even if your grade will not improve to what you would like to see, this is the time to develop the habits of success that will carry you forward into next year.
I also hope that you are spending a little time focused on the future. For 89 of you, that future will be in a new school and maybe even in a new state next year. You will begin to see your dreams become reality. You will reap the rewards of all the hard work you have put in so far. For the rest of you, a new year will bring a new chance to be better. You can be a better student, a better friend, a better son or daughter.
How can you do this? Simple. Make a decision to be more than you are today. You don’t have to achieve a goal overnight. All you need to do is purposely be a little better tomorrow than you were today and then keep doing so each day going forward. I recently heard that same sentiment from the new Carolina Panthers head coach. He concluded his thought with “if you do that and then look back at the end of your career, you will be amazed at just how far you came.” I believe the same is true for each of you and I can’t wait to see what you become in the year(s) to come. I am honored to be just a small part of that journey.
As always, please know that You Matter! to me.
Mr. Morgan

Morning Drop-off Changes
In an attempt to make morning drop-off run more efficiently, we are asking our families to make sure they are doing the following:
- Do not pull into the crosswalk to drop off your student. This is where students who park in the back lot cross over, so please stop just short of this.
- Encourage your student to lead a healthy lifestyle by getting in a few extra steps. Do not wait until you get to the front of the line to drop off your student. Your child should exit as soon as you clear the cones by the gym and come to a stop.
- If you have a student driver, please pull to the middle school side to change places as this can slow down the main line of traffic.
- If a staff member is directing traffic at the crosswalk, do not motion to a student to cross. Let the staff member on duty do this.
- Please make sure your student has all their belongings and is ready to exit the vehicle as soon as you come to a stop in the drop-off zone.
- Please proceed to exit the campus after you have dropped off your student. Do not pull into one of the staff/student lots to make a phone call, etc. We have young drivers, students walking, and limited parking.
Your cooperation with this is appreciated.
Afternoon Pick-up Changes
In an attempt to speed up afternoon pick-up, parents who are picking up high schoolers only may use either the Middle School or High School sides after 3:00 p.m. High School students whose ride is on the Middle School side must cross at the crosswalk and not in the middle of the lot. Parents who are picking up middle schoolers only, should continue to pick up on the Middle School side, and parents who are picking up middle and high schoolers should continue to pick up on the High School side. Please make sure you pull into the pick-up lane and do not block the exit lane. We will have staff members out there to assist as we transition to this new policy.
