SCAMPER
SCAMPER is an acronym for seven thinking techniques that can be used in creative problem-solving to generate new ideas, solutions, and products. It is a great stand alone tool to help students improve their creative thinking, but can also be used in the content areas.

Content Examples
- An example of a Substitute challenge in social studies is: What could have happened at Gettysburg if Lee had followed General Longstreet's advice not to fight but to march around the Federal Army?
- An example of a Rearrange challenge in math is: What is the math problem? If the student is given the answer and all the components to a problem, she can use the order of operations to decipher the original equation. For instance, the answer is 49, the components are 3, 4, 7, ( ), + and x. What is the math problem?
- An example of an Eliminate challenge is: If a certain character is taken out of the story, historical event, or field of study, how would the outcome be different?
- An example of a Put To Another Use challenge is: Can this animal's behavior be put to another use? Click the link for a real-life example of this.
