IMPORTANT REMINDER!!
This is an important reminder regarding the safety of our students and families during arrival and pick-up times.
As we navigate through the daily hustle and bustle in the parking lot, it is crucial that we all remain vigilant and prioritize safety above all else. Kindly drive slowly, watch out for student (who may be very small and hard to see!), and follow the designated drop-off and pick-up procedures.
By working together to ensure a safe environment in our parking lot, we can make the school arrival and dismissal process smooth and safe for everyone involved.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your dedication to our students' well-being.
From the Principal's Desk
Thank you for investing time in our spring conferences this week to learn more about your child. I want to specifically ask that if your child's teacher pointed out areas for growth, please make sure to follow up with us on ways that you can extend learning through time on task at home. You are your child's first and best teacher! Small investments at home in closing learning gaps can pay great dividends so please know that we have teachers who are more than able to share strategies with you that will make a difference.
During conferences I shared a form where you were able to share positive feedback with your child or our staff. I'm so thankful for the feedback which was shared as we were able to print more than 150 certificates for Bauer students and staff!!!! Thank you for making this a priority. I have shared this before, but please consider the words below and the powerful impact on others, and our culture, that your feedback has.
------------------------------------------------------
Do It Now If with pleasure you are viewing any work a man is doing, If you like him or you love him, tell him now; Don’t withhold your approbation till the parson makes oration And he lies with snowy lilies on his brow; No matter how you shout it he won’t really care about it; He won’t know how many teardrops you have shed; If you think some praise is due him now’s the time to slip it to him, For he cannot read his tombstone when he’s dead. More than fame and more than money is the comment kind and sunny And the hearty, warm approval of a friend. For it gives to life a savor, and it makes you stronger, braver, And it gives you heart and spirit to the end; If he earns your praise – bestow it, if you like him let him know it, Let the words of true encouragement be said; Do not wait till life is over and he’s underneath the clover, For he cannot read his tombstone when he’s dead.
Thank you again for your commitment to your children and to creating a positive culture at Bauer!

Let’s Go Girls!
We LOVE hearing all the great feedback from our Girls’ Night Out event!! Please join us in thanking all the folks that contributed to this special event…
BIG thanks to our dedicated committee members for putting it all together: Cody O’Doherty, Kristen Simons, Robin Phillips, Shelby McGovern, Kindra Tanis, Jelena Armijo, Becki Sturgeon, Jenny Montag, and Katie Rediske.
We simply could not have had this epic “Boots & Bows” Girls’ Night Out at the perfect setting — The Barn at Stanton Crossing — without our generous hosts (and Bauer parents) Rocco & Kristen DePirro!!
Morgan Linnae Photography (a Hudsonville grad!) provided our Bauer girls and their guests with beautiful posed and candid captures to commemorate the evening. Rob Runyon with Prestige Photobooth provided a fun keepsake photo opportunity (complete with props) for our GNO attendees. Ludwick’s Donuts graciously donated all of the delicious donuts to help fuel our line dancers! Shout out to Hudsonville High School’s National Honor Society for providing volunteers — we appreciate your help!
Last, but definitely not least, BIG THANKS to our wonderful event volunteers: Jill Bosnjak, Catherine Rische, Michael Armijo, Avery Conely, Ashley Scholma, Sarah Snyder, Bridget Gauntner, Alisha Rodriguez, Chelsea Pummill, Hollie Schrotenboer, and Cora & Karly Leidig.

The JENISON Culver’s is located at: 7393 Cottonwood Drive…in JENISON. A portion of sales will come back to BPC to fund all the great activities your students enjoy - so please save the date, come hungry and bring your friends!
Save the Date for SKATE!
How lucky are we?? Join us for another fun skating party on Monday, March 18th from 6:15 - 8:15 PM at Tarry Hall in Grandville! While this is an event for Bauer families, all minors in attendance must be under direct adult supervision. Admission is $7 for all skaters (no cost for spectators). Rentals are $3 for rollerblades or roller skates.
Music to Benefit Music
From Bauer music teacher, Jane VanRijs: Thank you so much to the Bauer Parent Club for supporting a table at the Music to Benefit Music dinner and auction. The evening was filled with good food, fun auction items, and an excellent musical performance. Cameron Blake and his band provided the music for the evening. His music was so creative and they were joined by a group of gospel singers on several selections.
We will now receive $1000 to spend on items for the music room. I am so grateful that we will be able to add some new instruments, books, and replace some items that have been dearly loved and used over the years. Such great timing as we will be having a new music room next year. This was the last year for this event and am so thankful Bauer could be a part of it this year and in the past! Thanks again!
Bauer Parent Club Meeting
Our next meeting is Monday, March 11th at 7:30 PM in the Bauer Library. We’ll be joined by special guests Doug VanderJagt, Superintendent at Hudsonville Public Schools, and a member of our HPS school board. Dr. VanderJagt will be discussing the May 7th non-homestead vote and answering any questions you may have. We hope to see you there!
WHO YA GONNA CALL?
Have you ever needed goods or services and wished you had a directory of Bauer families and alumni that you could go to first? The Bauer Parent Club feels the same! The BPC has created a directory to house Bauer family businesses, trades and vendors. Participants will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date information and we hope this will be a handy tool to connect and support Bauer families. If you would like to be represented in the directory, follow this direct link. Please contact the parent club at bauerparentclub@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
BPC on the ‘Gram
We’re trying to add a social media presence over on Instagram as it’s a preferred platform for many. Since we’re concerned with elementary age kiddos and the internet is a complete jungle – our IG account will be private. (Just like our Facebook group page, you will need to request to follow.) Thanks for following along!

If your student will be late and needs a hot lunch, please let us know when you call. Hot lunch needs to be ordered by 10 am.
COVID Tests
Free at home COVID tests are available in the office.
Drop Off Procedures
If you are dropping your child off in the mornings we ask that you are mindful of a few details. When dropping students, please use the entire straightaway. We are having issues with folks stopping too soon and this creates a less efficient drop off. When you are allowed to pull forward, please pull all the way up to the grassy area at the end of the straightaway. The drop off area extends from this grassy area all the way back to the paper gator. Even our youngest students are capable of walking this short distance to the south building doors. Please have them exit your vehicle and head straight to the sidewalk to make their way into the building. Additionally, we close the doors at 8:45 sharp. If you arrive at 8:45 or later, please send your child in through the front/office doors by the flagpole.
Your attention to these details will make things more efficient so THANK YOU in advance!
Volunteer/Visitor Policy
The HPS criminal background check is required for all school volunteers. In order to complete this request, we ask that you fill out this volunteer form at least 48 hours prior to volunteering. Once your request is submitted, all Volunteer status updates (Approval, Denial or Limited Access Approval) will be sent directly to the building you have selected to volunteer in.
The Hudsonville Public School District has the right to approve or deny your request if your background check does not meet the standards of HPS Board Policy.
If you have any questions regarding the Volunteer Background Check process, please contact our Human Resources Department at 616-669-1740 or by emailing our office at eagles@hpseagles.net.
