Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students
Save these dates!
Our Hall/Performing Art Centre is getting closer and closer to completion and it’s looking fantastic! We are excited to share this new space with you!
Please save these dates to join in the opening celebrations with your child/ren and the Glenealy community. As we will only have two weeks to prepare the items next term, please appreciate that the performances will be simple but enjoyable. I’m sure you will love to see your child perform in the new space to celebrate what has been an enormous community project from concept to completion. You are welcome to come to the events that your child will be performing in. These are as follows:
Monday January 23rd - 8.30am
A special lion dance will be performed in the playground at the start of school to celebrate the week of Chinese New Year and also the opening of the Performing Arts Centre. You are welcome to join this occasion in the playground. Students only, will then enter the new hall and this will be a special opening just for them! No sneaky peaks for you on this day!
Year groups will then perform on the days scheduled below. A few other items may be added and if your child is involved we will let you know. We expect the combined items to last for about 30-40 minutes for each performance.
Tuesday January 24th
6.30pm - Year 3 and 5 students will perform to parents.
Wednesday January 25
8.30am - Year 1 and 2 students will perform
Wednesday January 25
6:30pm - Year 4 and 6 students will perform.
We look forward to sharing the opening of this great space with you all.
You may be wondering about the scaffolding that has been erected on the exterior wall of the hall facing the playground? Unfortunately some leakage was evident when we had our last black rain and typhoon, so the contractors will begin removing the tiles and sealing the cracks over the next month or so. Fortunately this will not impinge on the opening of the hall but may mean it’s not looking quite so attractive from the outside early next term. It will be good to get this done and know everything is water tight!
Glenealy Sports Day is on this Friday 2nd December. As usual this fantastically athletic Glenealy tradition will be held at the Kowloon Cricket Club (KCC) from 9:30-1:30. There is a cup on offer for the best dressed support so please come in your child’s house colours! Remember to reply via the form here about collection arrangements for your children if you have not already.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!
Kind regards
Brenda

The Glenealy School Brownie Pack is raising money to enable the Brownies to host a Christmas party for a group of ethnic minority children who attend local schools in Hong Kong. Next Tuesday, 6th December, the Brownies will be selling craft kits for $15-$20 in the playground at 3:00pm after school. There will also be a sale of second hand books and toys donated by the Brownies. In addition they will be offering a shoe shine service for black leather shoes at $10 per pair for children's shoes and $20 per pair for adult shoes. We hope you will bring your shoes and money along next Tuesday to support this project.
The 36th Hong Kong Grasshopper Scout Ring takes boys and girls aged from five and a half to seven years of age has a few spaces available from January. The Ring meets on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:30 pm at St John's Cathedral. Members of the 36th HK Grasshopper Ring are normally able to progress to the 36th HK Cub Scout Pack when they reach the entry age. Both the Grasshopper Scout Ring and Cub Scout Pack are members of the Scout Association of Hong Kong and rely on support from volunteers to run activities that benefit the members. Glenealy Gives Back
The PTA recently arranged for a donation of surplus Second Hand Uniform to be donated to Crossroads, a charity that sends goods all over the world to underprivileged communities. Garments that were unwearable will be recycled, while those in good condition will be sent abroad. Click here to see Crossroads’ letter of thanks to the Glenealy Community. Special thanks to Gina Agresti for coordinating this effort.
Winter Uniform
Please click here to see which items of winter stock are currently available.
Parents are reminded that our winter order was based on quantities ordered via Order Forms. As a result, we are already out of stock of some sizes in winter items. We will not be placing a further order for winter uniform items this school year, as any order placed now is unlikely to arrive before February.
The PTA Uniform Shop is open on Thursday mornings 8.20 – 8.45 a.m and Monday afternoons 2.45 – 3.15 p.m.
