Monday Morning Memo - Week 19
1/12/20
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Holiday Party
Thank you Erin Rillema for opening up her home to the Poupard staff this past Friday! I want to thank the Social Committee (Amanda, Dawn, and Sarah H.) for coordinating such a fantastic holiday party for our staff. It was an absolute pleasure seeing such an amazing group of people come together to share stories, laughter and jello shots. I truly hope that this group of individuals will find a way to come together in the future to celebrate the connection they have developed during their time working alongside one another. With that being said, who's willing to host the Former Poupard Staff Party in 2020-2021? :)
Professional Development on Jan 17th
This Friday, January 17th our staff will be visiting the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for a guided tour that includes staff members from both Mason and Monteith. I apologize for not taking the time to explain the "why" for this learning experience that Roy, Shelleyanne and I coordinated. The purpose of this day is to provide an opportunity for our staff members to learn the rich history of African Americans. Our staff is lucky enough to serve a significant amount of black students and families that attend GP schools. In our efforts to best serve our families, we must continue to find ways to connect and understand them. Brene Brown says that empathy fuels connection and sympathy drives disconnection. To empathize, she says, we must “internalize the feelings of another.” Friday is just one opportunity to develop connection with others. In addition to learning more about the rich history of African Americans, we'll get an opportunity to continue connecting with colleagues from other buildings that we may be partnering up with in the near future.
The principals and I will be sending out a detailed agenda to each staff early this week. We're really looking forward to sharing this experience with you!
Let's a great week!
Ali

Class Newsletters
Please share your weekly newsletters with me by "Ccing" me when they are emailed out to families. This allows for me to stay connected with all of the exciting things happening inside of your classrooms.
GES3
Our GES3 meeting dates and deadlines have been established by the team. You can access that information below. It will also be made available on our Poupard Schoology page.
GES3 Dates and Information Page
Walkie Talkie
All Classroom Teachers should have received a Walkie Talkie. Please take it with you when you take your students outside for an extra recess. The office staff will use it to locate individual students, typically for early dismissal.Emergency Information
Please be sure to review all of the emergency information for fire drills and tornado drills inside of your classrooms. We will be doing a sweep to make sure your emergency bags are stocked with everything that necessary and include updated rosters as they become available.
Behavior Referrals
Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
