SharLeBel Mushrooms was founded in July 2014 by Charlene and Lenette. It is based in the beautiful Garden Route. It is a small business and only produced +- 100kg per month.
Freshness and quality are important.
Shiitake - our Passion!
SharLeBel Mushroom’s passion is Shiitake. It is not only because Shiitake is a meaty, smoky, tasty mushroom but also for its high nutritional and medicinal value.
Growth Process
It is cultivated on sawdust blocks in two greenhouses. Although not certified as organic, it is grown under organic circumstances. No pesticides, fungicides or growth stimulants are used.
Nutritional Facts
- Shiitake contains no fat
- Sundried Shiitake has high Vit D2. SharLeBel only sun dry mushrooms.
- Shiitake is a good source of Vitamines: B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin) and B12
- Shiitake is an approved anti-tumor drug in Japan due to the Lentinan found in it
- Shiitake is an excellent source of antioxidant selenium
