Our Staff Rocks!
You are problem solvers, innovators, learners, risk-takers, and you are leaders! You should be very proud of the difference you are making in the lives of our students!!!!
Mastery UP! Towards our Goals!
To help us focus instruction towards increasing mastery and success for ALL students, don't forget our lesson plans expectations/MUST HAVES that will drive our instruction, to raise cognitive demand.
*1-2 intentionally planned higher-level questions per lesson (use in opening or closing)
*higher-level verbs to guide your Learning Targets and tasks.
*plans complete before you leave on Fridays (this is super helpful for our SPED team- (Resource & SEAC)
If you misplaced the ICLE handout, I have extras! Just let me know!!!
If you have plans saved somewhere else, please slide them into our folder. Here's the link- Lesson Plans. Thank you!!!
What's Ahead
HOW is our PBIS implementation going? (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports)
Thank you for implementing our school-wide behavior expectations, routine Morning Meetings, intentional teaching & modeling of character traits/social skills, and creating a positive classroom culture!!! You are setting students up for success in the real-world!
*How does PBIS contribute to the development of positive school climate, school safety, and student-educator relationships?
"PBIS implementation involves explicitly prompting, modeling, practicing, and encouraging positive expected social skills across settings and individuals. When students are taught to effectively use relevant expected social skills for themselves and with others, school climates are described as more positive, learning environments are designated as safer, and student-educator relationships are referred to as more trusting and respectful."
Check out more ideas on Morning Meetings in Michelle's slideshow (just click)
*Complete this survey to give our PBIS committee some helpful feedback by Fri, Feb. 1st.
*If you complete your survey by midnight on Monday, wear jeans on Tuesday!
Morning Meetings this Week- RESPECT!
Unfortunately, when we tell students to "be respectful" they often 'think' they are OR they are unclear of what that really looks like.
This week Morning Meetings MUST dos:
*Please devote time to teach/model/practice & role play- respect for others despite how they look, where they live, different cultures,...... We have had some very sad situations arise with students who do not understand how badly their words and actions can hurt others. Hateful actions and words will NOT be tolerated.
*Respect for safety on the bus. ALL students will ride a bus this year whether it's a field trip or daily transportation. Please devote time to teach/model/practice & role play- What does riding a bus look like? Sound like? What are bus expectations? What should you do when someone isn't following expectations?
Thank you for all you do to help raise good humans!!!!!
