Southern Teachers Agency
Wanted: Student-Leaders – to Serve at Leading College-Prep Schools
Teacher/Coach Recruiting for 2015-16 is underway.
Apply Here: http://www.southernteachers.com/
STA recruits throughout the liberal arts and sciences, not just education majors. We help nearly 600 Mid-Atlantic and Southern college-prep schools hire enthusiastic learners, effective communicators, and caring role models for their classrooms, playing fields, service activities, and co-curricular programs.
These schools offer small classes, supportive and collegial faculty cultures, opportunities to innovate, create, and inspire. When they hire teachers for middle/high school, they focus on college coursework that applies to a college-prep curriculum. Degrees in secondary education can be helpful, but they’re not a hiring prerequisite.
Of course, specific training is expected for some positions:
Elementary-grade teachers and learning specialists must hold state licensure/certification.
For art, physical education, and music teachers, certification is strongly preferred.
Librarians and media specialists most hold an MLS or comparable degrees.
School counselors must hold master’s degrees in counselor education.
The urgency of today’s email: Students should apply soon to become STA teacher candidates so they can participate in upcoming recruitment fairs. Attaining full STA candidacy can take up to three weeks.
