Jaguar Journal
November 4th, 2021
Lord, it is good for us to be here! Matthew 17:4
The cold weather has arrived! Students need to have coats or jackets when they come to school each day as students go outside for recess everyday as long as it’s not raining. As the weather gets colder, please send hats and gloves as well.
In today’s blue folder, you will find Iowa test results for students in grades 2-8. If you have any questions regarding the Iowa Standardized Test, please reach out to your child’s teacher or myself. Next week during our in-service, the teachers and I will be looking and discussing these results.
Wear Gold for Beckett Please see the flyer below regarding our friend, Beckett. We are having a wear gold day free dress next Tuesday, November 9th. Gold is the color designated to childhood cancer, therefore, we want to Dress in Gold for Beckett! Free dress tops are $1 and free dress bottoms for another $1. We will also be receiving bracelets next week that students can purchase for $1 to proudly wear in support of Beckett and his family.
All proceeds from the bracelets and free dress will be donated to covering the cost of a deep clean of their home right before Beckett comes home. Anything above that cost will be donated as an Instacart gift card so that grocery shopping can be done from home and healthy food choices can be made. If you want to donate above the minimum costs listed above, feel free to do so. All donations will be going towards these two areas of need for Beckett and his family.
SCRIPMANIA TOTAL: We just keep rocking Scrip! Our new Scripmania Total for this week is $13,525…So now we will be giving away 5 FREE gift cards on December 6th! Keep up the GREAT work!!! We are only $1,475 away from giving away a 6th FREE gift card! Make sure to share with family and friends so that they can join in on the fun too and it can count towards your tuition! When we started this, my personal goal for us was to hit $42,500 in Scrip sales for this time, which would result in 17 FREE gift cards! Last year we hit $40,000 and gave away 16, so we have to beat last year’s record, right? I believe we can!
The first grade class has taken the lead with 71% of families participating, and 3rd grade is right behind them with 67%!!! Once the class hits 100% participation, then that class automatically earns the Pajama Christmas Party! AND more than one class can earn the party! One Scrip order qualifies your family as participating. You can place a backpack order, order from our inventory, or place an e-card order through the app! It all qualifies for this fun incentive and earns you tuition credit!
Scrip Our next Backpack order will be Monday, November 8th. When you are buying your Thanksgiving decor, Thanksgiving food, and Christmas gifts, use Scrip cards to purchase them!
Also, for the months of November and December, we will place a Scrip backpack order every Monday! So remember to purchase ahead of time to do your Thanksgiving and Christmas shopping. Or use the app for last minute purchases to use the gift card immediately! Let me know if you have any questions about this program!
Halloween Parties Thank you for all the treats that you sent in for our Halloween parties last week. The students had a great afternoon!
Veterans Information Thank you to all who have sent us names of veterans so that we can send out letters for Veterans Day. Thanks to Kim Fossum, each classroom will have at least one Google Meet with an active duty or retired military member. We are thankful for this learning opportunity to teach the importance of our country’s military on this special day. Please ask your child about their letters and the Google Meet once they are held.
We will be having mass next Thursday, November 11th, and we would like to invite all veterans to join us for mass. Please spread the word to any of your family or friends.
Camp Jag Days Our next Camp Jags days are Wednesday, November 24th & Friday, November 26th. The camp fee is $20 per day, per student from 7:00 A.M. till 3 P.M, or Camp Jag + Extended Care is $25 per day, per student from 7:00 A.M. till 6:00 P.M. in the Munier Center. Campers must bring lunch but snacks will be provided. If you are interested in having your child attend on the 24th, please sign up using the link below by Friday, November 12th. If you have any questions, Please contact Mrs. Generous secretary@stjohnnsschool.us or Mrs. Ganey @ mjganey@stjohnsschool.us.
Christmas Play On the beginning of the year calendar, we had listed December 10th as our Christmas Play. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have a live Christmas performance, however, we will still be doing a play and it will be shared virtually with all families. The recording will happen during the school day, therefore, all students who are able to participate. More information will be coming about the play. For now, I wanted to make you aware that you no longer need to save that date for your calendar.
Read Right Run Our Read Right Run program kicked off this week. The program’s goal is to develop reading-proficient, community-minded and physically fit children in grades K-8 by challenging them to READ 26 books, RIGHT the community with 26 good deeds, and RUN 26.2 miles over a 26 week period. After 26 weeks of hard work, the program culminates when the students complete their race day goals at our Annual Family Day in Forest Park (April 2, 2022).
The link to register is https://www.gostlouis.org/youth/#rrrm
The group met this past Tuesday for the first time, however, if your student is interested, he/she can still join in!
Testimonials On our website we have a section dedicated to testimonials. We would love to update some quotes from our current families. If you would like to submit a testimonial, please email it to me or write it out and drop it in your blue folder. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and feelings about St. John the Baptist Catholic School!
Have a great evening, and weekend!
Don’t forget to turn your clocks back on Saturday night!

Beckett's Battalion
Beckett Krieg, one of our Junior Kindergarten students, was diagnosed with B Cell ALL on October 18, 2021. He is extremely strong and fighting cancer everyday while receiving chemo treatment. He has a month-long stay at the hospital that he is about halfway through right now. We have been praying for Beckett, and his family (Mom-Samantha, Dad-Kenny, and Brylee and Colton-older siblings), and will continue to do so. We ask that you remember the Krieg’s in your prayers as well.
We will be receiving bracelets next week that students can purchase for $1 to proudly wear in support of Beckett and his family. We are also having a wear gold day free dress next Tuesday, November 9th. Gold is the color designated to childhood cancer, therefore, we want to Dress in Gold for Beckett! Free dress tops are $1 and free dress bottoms for another $1.

Visit Gibault!
Open House is this Sunday, November 7th! Here is the link to RSVP: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4caba729a0facf8-gibault1
If you missed Open House, you still have lots of chances to visit Gibault! We invite you to bring the entire family for a Private Tour. Meet one-on-one with our Director of Enrollment, ask any questions you have, and tour our campus.
We’re still hosting Shadow Visitors. Your student can attend classes, meet teachers and other students, spend off mods on the patio, and enjoy lunch in our cafeteria alongside a student ambassador! The best way to learn about life as a Gibault Hawk is to spend the day as one!
To schedule your tour or shadow visit, contact our Director of Enrollment, Kelly Day, at kday@gibaulthawks.com.
